It's incredible how people can be convinced so strongly of something that they will defend it to the end even though it is completely ridiculous. They come up with all sorts of justifications on why they are correct that just don't make any sense to anyone thinking logically.

If it makes the world seem tolerable, they will never EVER let anyone try to convince them otherwise. People like comfort and security, and when that security is taken from them they snap at you like a rabid dog.
