Author Topic: Kingdom Crusade [Indie Game/WIP]  (Read 1253 times)

So I've been working on this for a while now. This topic is more of a development diary. I'm hoping to have this game finished in a year or two. I'm building this game in Unity Engine, and modelling it on Sketchup.

Features:
  • Survival
  • Medieval
  • MMO
  • PVP
  • Castles:
               Quests
               Vendors
               Banks
  • Death system:
Drop ammo and money on death
               Pick-up able ammo and money
  • Battlegrounds/safezones
  • Lots of weapons/armor

Basically this will be a cross between DayZ and Skyrim (but obviously more of an indy budget).
This is not to be mistaken with my Blockland project, with the same name. I haven't been playing blockland much and I liked the name. This project is something to do alongside my degree. If anyone would like to help (animators/coders/modellers) feel free to PM me.

Progress Report:
(DD-MM-YY)
10-07-14      Terrain has been made, watch tower, market stall, stables and blacksmith have all been finished, castle is still WIP

Sounds cool, it makes me think of Age of Time

looks like you have some pretty neat models

Thanks! I designed the market stall from memory of a build that Thorfin did a while ago. The castle is going to be huge! This is only a small portion of what is to come.
I need to make props and stuff like barrels and boxes and lanterns.

The models look very nice.
A bit cubic in places, like the top of the market stand, but otherwise it all fits together nicely.

How many different versions of the same thing are you going to make, since I assume you don't necessarily want all castles to look identical. Or will they all be of similar design/style, but made modular?

If you want some inspiration of varying castle shapes/designs then I recommend looking at some of the castles in Mount&Blade Warband. They're not the prettiest anymore since the graphics and such are outdated, but some of the castles are pretty creatively laid out and there's not much in the way of repetition. You can definitely tell where you are by what the individual castles look like.

Yeah, I kinda pictured how it'd look in a Mount & Blade battle.
There will be noticeably different regions of the map, so for instance this one is mostly made from stonework. There will be one which is more wooden feel to it.
Nice to see your support dooble!

Working on the castle tonight :)

The way it looks so far and how you say you're planning to have it go makes me think of Shadowbane.
If I were you, I'd make sure to take a few notes on older MMO's for what and what not to do(See Shadowbane for what not to do, mainly, as SB was massively stuff in it's time).

Thanks for the support, I've actually been designing it in my own image of how I'd like 'the perfect medieval game' to be. I haven't worked much on the code yet, I'll look into that later on in the year. I'd like to get the basic map game finished first :)
