Author Topic: Need parts for computer with 300 dollars  (Read 5540 times)

dont have a case to export. i never knew u can use your product key to use windows on another pc.

When you register a product key, it deactivates the one on the older PC.

alright, so i guess i need case now.

Hold on a minute, though. Is it an OEM key or an upgrade key?

how tell

Lastly, are you going to reuse your windows product key for Windows and how about a case and a hard drive, do you already have those that you can use?
he's building this into a eMachines, dude, so he's got a DVD drive, HDD, and case. Your suggestions are good, but with space concerns and his hesitance towards OCing, I think my build w/ the Athlon might work better.
Btw, I swapped out the R7 260x I had in my build for the GTX 750 Ti Randomness suggested

It's an OEM because it's an eMachines. That shouldn't be a problem tho if he's just plugging it into his "new" PC.
-edit I'm dumb, wasn't aware of the motherboard restriction.

Actually it is. OEM keys are not migratable. He must buy a new Windows for the new PC, regardless if its the AMD or Intel build.

No.  Save your goddamn money.  And saying "i have no source of income" is no loving excuse, get off your lazy ass and mow some lawns or something.  It's not worth it to upgrade your machine, buy build a completely new one.  Sorry about being rude.

No, prebuilts are never worth it unless you just cant build a PC worth a flip or have absolutely no way to do that, they always mark up the price for parts that are always slower for what you paid for.

Also, that was completely uncalled for.

I never said prebuilt, but I guess I should have been clearer.

Also that's what we've been trying to do. This is basically a completely new PC with only 1 or 2 migrations from the old PC (the RAM and DVD Drive which can be replaced later)

Also, please for the love of god find a way to increase the budget. $300 cant make a PC worth your money. If it is something like $450, we'd be able to do it, mostly because you have to pay for the OS again, not necessarily anything with the hardware.

don't forget the case!

Anyway, what do ya figure is the best course of action w/ the whole OEM mobo restriction?

This is really a problem, because you cant get the rebates before you purchase, meaning you'd need to drop more money than initially priced before you get the rebates back.

And I, for one, just cant find myself recommending AMD because of ethical reasons regarding power consumption and the planet and yadda yadda.
