They don't, but my real life experiences have shown me otherwise.
And how many times have you flown?

I've been in 2 plane crashes and I still aspire to be a professional pilot

I guess it all comes down to not being a stubborn bitch

Like Commerical Airliners or just small planes?

Small planes. Once I was in the co-pilot's seat, the other I was in the pilots seat.

crashes in a small plane are far more likely tbf

a commercial airliner has so much stuff in it to prevent anyone from dying

I have been on planes before. I am not dead.

According to the radio, it was said that they knew it was a passenger plane.
According to the "Russian version of Facebook" I heard on a news network, the people thought they shot down a military plane and posted about it on there. It has since then been taken down by the website, though.

Well yeah plus the fact that airline pilots have very vigorous regulations permitting them to be pilots of a huge jet like that.

Most of those guys have to have 1500+ hours to even apply. Most of the old guys probably have 10,000+ hours flying.

When you get to REALLY senior pilots you get up to 23,000+. So in the roosterpit of airliners usually you shouldn't be surprised if the flight crew have 30,000 hours combined.

Well I know what CNN is covering all week now.

"Russian version of Facebook"
you mean Vkontakte, or VK for short?

according to the first russian news article I found (Утро.ру), it was blasted near Donetsk (which is a bit of a warzone at the moment) and the local Donetsk prime minister says only Ukrainian forces could do such a gruesome thing.

fly smaller jets

fly smaller jets
I thought there'd be requirements for those too (besides knowing how to fly of course, and having SOME experience)

well my personal way of logging hours is spending thousands of dollars on fuel with my tiny paychecks and will be to become a CFI very soon and charge people for flight instruction. Hopefully hook up with a charter company in the years to come.

Some airlines offer jobs right out of college I think. You just have to be broke all the time in the aviation industry right now to get anywhere.
