Something finally happened in Avalonia :D
In other news, Avalonia's campaign to the north has now lasted longer than most people lived at this time.
The fishing village on Avalonia's port island is found to be abandoned (it is believed) after a disease swept through there.  It is not known where the sickness came from (some think the Belanese refugees) or where the people have gone (some think Calzone, Ormica, or Atensia).  Avalonia assumes full control of the island.

Slavery in Avalonia and less so in the rest of the German-Nordic region rapidly declines as the practice is openly denounced as "beneath the honor of the fatherland and its people," by a known and universally respected member of The Order of the Golden Lion.  Most slaves have not suddenly been freed, but many are given honor-bound promises that their descendants will not be slaves and that they will be freed upon the death of their master.  One notable holdout includes a, now former, member of the Avalonian Council who resigned after facing almost certain removal as he is now certainly not viewed as honorable enough to participate in the governing of Avalonia.  In the rest of the German-Nordic region the response is far more watered down and limited.

Erinaum believes in civil or indentured servitude.  Someone pays for something, and then the recipient becomes a servant to the provider until the debt is paid.  It is completely voluntary.

The storm continues to stay over Galaumia. All contact from the outside is cut off. Anyone approaching Galaumian borders notice a sign, one with a skull on it over the flag of the boar.

Erinaum forbids travel to Galaumia.

Disease?! That is bad!
Slavery is now abolished after decades of being looked down upon. Slaves will be freed after 20 years or once owners die. Either way, they get inheritance from their owners and the value for which they were bought.

This does NOT include intenturementation or tenantship.

>Not Earth

I like the movement. However Hlaohamarr will not give up slavery.

The idea of completely free men from slavery, with inheritance and payback, with completely abolished slavery, is a ridiculous idea in this age.

This is what I was inferring.  I modeled the Hlaoman result after viking culture since he was using the three-layer class system and modeled strongly to that culture.

I like that we're following a bit of what we know that has happened on Earth, but it'd be kinda interesting to see some ideas permeate through Anagaea earlier than before.

However I think the people who are abolishing slavery should have a bit more back story there. You don't just abolish it suddenly when you think its wrong, there has to be a trend leading up to it.

Priests has always emphasized on everyone has a basic set of needs. Slavery doesn't complete some of it.

This.

Seems to contradict this.

Slavery is now abolished after decades of being looked down upon.
Regardless, it doesn't make sense due to economics of the time, which was almost entirely reliant on human and animal labor.  Widespread social developments of that type were not seen in human history up to this point mostly because it was impractical.  And if priests have so much influence on Atenisian society and government (and quite possibly Avalonian society and government, as Plethora had referenced), then one (or both) of them ought to be considered theocratic oligarchies for more authoritarian models, or meritocratic theocracies for more economic or religious models.

The messenger agrees, and takes out a rolled up package from his pack, unties the string, and reveals a few objects, the first thing to catch the Centurion's eye– a small lump of gold.  Next is a few small sticks bound together by twine.  The messenger takes from his robe a piece of flint and iron, and from his pack a small tin cup.  He places the sticks in the cup and then strikes the flint and iron, lighting the sticks and releasing a soft smoke.  A pleasing aroma fills the room– incense.
Aspian peeps present think this stuff is pretty neat.

The messenger asks what Aspidis has to offer.
When asked, the Centurion snaps his fingers and slave servants run off to gather some items. When they return, one of the servants presents a small, glass bottle with a nozzle on one end. Aiming it to a female servant, the nozzle is squeezed and mist is sprayed out onto the woman who shuts her eyes before taking a step to the messenger, a sweet and pleasant smell coming from her. Perfume. In addition, a golden goblet lined with rubies is brought in and presented, as well as bathing oils.

Outside of this, the messenger asks to mingle linguists together to help to solve the language barrier.
The Aspians agree and comply with the messengers requests, bringing in a good number of linguists to assist in allowing for better verbal communication between one another.

Meanwhile, Aspidis continues to be the gloomy nation it is and displays their population that is pretty open about how much they're okay with slavery.

Royal Handlers bring in to their leader a domesticated white lion, which proves to be a spectacle for their people. The lion is announced the emperors pet, and a particular number of handlers are gathered and issued to go about capturing and breaking more animals, mainly for military use.

Research for good weapons continues, 84%

Compare the priests to someone like a modern day Pope.

But you are right. On a realistic and practical scale, abolishing slavery makes no sense.

Varansk is a bit disappointed and quite insulted at the grain thieves, but decides not to fight back as of yet. Forces are, however, set to patrol some areas of the border.
