(I accidentally posted this in the wrong board at first, so this is a repost of that)

I know that we have the ability to take screenshots with Depth of Field, and that's great.

But is it at all possible to create that same effect without a screenshot, as in actual gameplay? And if possible, adjust the effect of the blur?

I feel like this would be great for film making and possibly TDM's where while aiming a gun, things up close will be blurred as you aim far away and vice versa.

With the way that DOF screenshots work in BL, it would increase the delay between each frame by about 2-6 seconds, depending on resolution. With 60 FPS, it'd reduce your FPS to 0.249.

I don't know how other games do the DOF thing, but I think we would have to implement an entirely new system. The current DOF screenshot takes multiple screenshots and blends them all into one to give the depth-of-field illusion.

Edit: Which murders performance

Unturned uses DOF.
Why not Blockland?

it runs on potato-powered juice
jk it runs on dorkue engine

isn't it Torque Engine?
p sure hes saying 'dorkue engine' as a joke because TGE is hilariously bad

It's not that Torque is bad, it's just that the Torque version Blockland runs on is EXTREMELY outdated. I don't think Badspot has ever updated the engine.

Hmmmm...

bedspote must update Torque
Well technically, Badspot has updated TGE so much that its basically its own game engine now.

Couldn't this be done with a custom shader?
