Georges' Vehicles Topic

Recently, I started modeling a Mercedes C Class for Blockland. I've enjoyed it quite a bit, so I've decided I want to start making vehicles. I don't wanna start planning to far ahead, but I would like to create next Mini Cooper and then some sort of crossover.

I'm not currently taking suggestions. I haven't even finished the first car yet.
Things I'd like to include in my vehicles
-Hands on support
-Steering wheel animations
-Eventually Custom Vehicle Support
-I am hoping I can at least add this on the C300 to allow custom colors, but we'll see.

Current projects:

Bengs C300
based on the Mercedes C Class
-Add CVS to allow custom colors.
Images:

Current glitches/issues:
Blender isn't exporting the node names correctly, so CVS can't find the nodes.

I hope to also make a C63 AMG variant as well, once I get the normal C300 finished.

I don't want to get ahead of myself, so I'll probably only do one vehicle at a time.

Anyway, feel free to discuss, and if you have an idea on how to fix the shading, please let me know!

i really don't mean to rain on your parade but i don't think blockland needs any more car vehicles

like almost all the vehicles released recently are normal civilian cars

I know

but I enjoy making them, so I'm going to

You should totally try to do what BlockAlpha suggested on the 3d topics here
Looks pretty good
Does it suppose to be that model of car? I think it looks similar.

If it yes, so I suggest you should make those black spots which in the sides of the front like this:

It would make the car look a lot better

I did, but I should probably make it bigger

okay

Nice, i love mercedes-benz cars
are you planning on making more mercedes?

I may eventually, but I'd like some diversity in what I make

Wow, lots of Mercedes lately!

Awesome! After the past several days of having issues with the shading, I have finally fixed it!

Things left to do on the C300:
-Finish model (this shouldn't take too long...)
-Hands on support
-Animate steering wheel
-Model wheels

Felipe, I went ahead and edited the front bumper, and it does look a bit better now.

Wow not bad for a first vehicle! I suggest that you use edge split if you use blender, or if you use milkshape, use whatever it is. It should make it clean due to what it looks like in those photos of yours.

Hey, you stole my wheels!
 :cookieMonster:

btw you mispelled my name

Looking good, though it doesn't really look like the C-class, mostly front. Though, I'm not sure on which exact model and year you're making.

oops, I'll fix

anyway, it's not the current model, it's the 2013 model I'm modeling, so chances are, if you search c class, you won't get the same model. I've also been working on redoing the the front and rear a bit, so I have completely redone the front headlights. I'm going to post pictures soon, hopefully. They're transparent and have details inside them now. Gives the front a much more premium feel, IMO.

Bump

updated OP, plus new pictures

Looks nice.  I have issues modeling realistic/non-blocky looking cars myself.  How on-grid are your vertices?  That's the issue I've always had - I always want to keep everything on-grid, but things never look realistic enough.

And btw, steering wheel animation are very easy.  I forget where I learned it, but it takes me no more than ten seconds to set up an animation for the steering wheel.  When you get there, I do suggest you use the IPO animation editor instead of action editor, especially if the steering wheel is angled up like in real life.

If you don't already have this reference, I suggest you use it.  I use it all the time.  It has the description for the steering wheel and brakelight animations.
