if its a public school they really cant do anything to her

this isnt right

its BECAUSE its a public school that they can

not all atheists are antitheists
they probably wouldnt give a stuff
exactly, thats really biased and stupid of him to say that.
im agnostic and i say bless you, holy stuff, oh my loving god, oh my god, god damnit, etc. and a lot of those have a sub-religious meaning to it

I agree with what you're saying ideologically but I don't think the motto on the dollar is the biggest issue right now when something like 40-50% of Americans think the Earth was created in the last 10,000 years.
Well for sure. But most people don't have to focus on one issue at a time. :P

Pretty much this. An atheist that gets easily offended by a phrase is just as bad as a religious person getting offended by a gay male being in their presence.
I don't think realistically anyone is offended when they hear "bless you". In reality though, some religious people will take action to remove their children and themselves from the presence of gay people. Really you shouldn't try to compare apples and oranges in these cases, simply take the stupidity of a teacher/school district at face value and move on.

i wonder what else you can get in trouble for these days
at my school you can get in trouble for trying to go to the vending machines when it's not the start of the day, lunch, or the end of the day

That shouldn't have happened. At all.

i say "forget you" instead

thanks i couldnt tell if that was like an f or not

my teachers didnt let me say suck or shut up

its BECAUSE its a public school that they can
Students of public schools are fully allowed to express their religion (as long as they're not harassing others with it), even organize in-school religious groups
The law is that school staff aren't allowed to lead the groups; the school can't give official support to them, etc

Why can't we all just get along?
