E-tard disabled by defult

I do not think the e-tard filter should be enabled by default. Ultimately all it does is annoy people, and I laugh at it saying "this is a civilized game..." From what I have seen, calling the BL community as a whole civilized is a joke at best. I can see where the e-tard filter might have some uses in some situations, but overall it would be better off if it were disabled by default.

You type a whole bunch of text accidentally put wh y somewhere instead of why. Now you have to retype the whole thing, because if you have dyslexia, like me, you can not just arrow up and find the mistake. It will never be found that way. You can ban people like that as well, or just kick them. It could also be enabled still, it should just be disabled by default, as there are very few scenarios where it actually benefits.

It's the opposite of what you're saying. It's useful most of the time and is only a problem for rare situations (like yours, dyslexia is pretty rare; I've only met one person in real life who even has signs of dyslexia and even then it's undiagnosed.)

Did you ever notice that it is disabled in almost all of the servers? There is a reason for that. I used to host server, people get frustrated by e-tard, and then they leave. E-tard does not help in most situations, which is why most servers have it off. It hurts more than it helps most of the time. In fact the only servers I have been on with e-tard enabled, the host said "I don't know how to turn it off" other than badspot's servers. You would still be able to enable it anyway, should you need it.
Also, dyslexia is the most common learning disability out there, 80% of people out there with a learning disability have dyslexia. That is not a made up percentage either.

Then what's the problem here? Sounds like the servers with it on are few and far between, and on the rare occasion that you do run into one, a quick explanation should sort things out.

100% of people that died from lightning were hit by lightning, doesn't mean that it's common. Just because it's the most common learning disability doesn't mean that learning disabilities are common in the first place.

As for the rest of your post: I see your point, but then why are you complaining about it? If all servers have it disabled, then why does it matter?

Learning disabilities are very common, 1 out of 5 people in the US have at least one (not a made up statistic), that means dyslexia is quite prominent, you just have a biased sample.
I do not mean to really complain so much as suggest an improvement. Even a small improvement does not make it an invalid one, and the work to do it and the gain would probably be about equal.

A small improvement isn't worth shooting yourself in the foot for. Having spent time on Blockland with the E-Tard filter slapping people across the wrist every time they attempt to communicate like savages, I can't take anyone seriously anymore when they make use of stuff like "u" and "r." I can't even read a sentence written like that without mentally labeling them a dumbass, and I am completely happy with that outcome. The E-Tard filter has done good work for us. If you're having so many problems with it that you suggest it be switched off for everyone, there's some pretty good typing tutor software out there.
