Hwan Ghou Kai and his men come into a major confrontation as a main battallion of Taijoua military responds to the attack on New Daijoua. Naal Yeao Ru soldiers come in to the combat on the side of Ghou and with their best Kastwata archers unleash a volley of fire that would explode on impact, thanks to the secret substances developed by Kai in hiding and supporting to overthrow of Gungxi.

A quickthinking Naal Yeao Ru archer had ran out of arrows and had with him only his bamboo bow and some of the powder that the kai had been using to supply them with the incindeary arrows.
The rest of his band had been killed by a group of the Arm of Bao still loyal to the Taijouan Bao.
In his desperation he tore the ends off of the bows of his fallen comrades and poured the powder into an end of each bow. As the enemy troops began to approach he lit the tubes on fire causing deadly yet aimable bursts that saved him from his attackers and bought him time to escape.
And just so galaumia doesnt give me grief, science and science

Swat give it a rest.  Avalonia is pouring resources into researching navigation.  It'd only be natural that the distance limit for Avalonia be expanded.

>,>
Grumbles how that was the entire reason I incorporated Mahowaeaen as the polynesian stand in to represent the ability for my seafaring to reach the northern oceans but it was swatted down due to distance limits and made the entire concept of that tribe defunct not that it matters much anymore anyways since Mawahe is no longer under Ru control

During one major standoff with a previous friend, Hwan Ghou Kai discusses with the rival general that in exchange for his support, the general would be given the command of military forces upon the final reconstitution of the Ru nation.

The general accepts, but he expresses his concerns about the men under his own command.  Most are still loyal to Gungxi.  Switching loyalties amongst his peers could mean that the general be executed for insurrection.

Ghou has a message delivered to enemy soldiers during a temporary ceasefire at the walls of New Daijoua calling for an end to rule of Gungxi. While General Ghou would like to thank the soldiers fighting for standing up for what they believe in, he hopes they would see that their leader is commiting the same atrocities he once fought to avoid.
If they cannot see that then maybe they can at least see the futility of their struggle considering the foreign liberation forces are already well underway towards the city, three of Taijoua's cities had already fallen and things arn't looking so good for the remaining two. Soldiers that join along side the liberation force would be treated as if they were allies of the nation the whole time, but it is warned that men who side with the mad king would not be spared if they act violently.

Random Events No. 24

Estrand:  Edbanian troops line up along the borderlands of Estrand and Tasmesova.  (MIL:  20%)

Ezbátu:  A combination of relocation of wheat to areas that once depended on rice, the acquisition of Nasum'tier, and the now booming OTA trade network has resulted in a significant boom in population.  (POP: 70%)

Atenisia:  A new Pope has come into office, and being that he has partial Atenisian blood, he favors Atenisia.  (POL:  80%)

Avalonia:  Avalonian trade carivans are seized by Ytsurian raids that extend past their own borders into unclaimed lands.  The captured merchants and other travellers are made slaves and are most likely exported to Five Seas' members.  (ECN:  40%)

Galaumia:  Tribes to the south of Galaumia have become impressed with Galaumian culture and have sworn allegiance to them (You gain a lot of land).  (POL:  100%)

Hlaohamarr:  The Hlaomann economy overheats after decades of good fish harvests.  People, in desperation, sell themselves or family members, as slaves or vassals to Aldegar to help remove strain on their family's budgets.  (ECN:  30%)

Espovon:  As Albiton promised before if Espovon would not obey the terms of its ultimatum, Albiton sends out a huge force to Espovon in order to subdue it.  Albiton additionally calls upon Atenisia, Dirvash, Arcano, and Conservatia to aid it.  Additionally, several political figures that were secretly Cassian betray the Espov crown.  (POL:  20%)

Taijoau:  By now, the citizens of Taijoau are completely fed up with the acts of Gungxi, and one of Gungxi's closest officers stabs him in the night, killing him.  Most of the people welcome the oncoming armies, and assist the rebellion by not harboring any forces still loyal to the cause of Gungxi.  The cause then dies out, having no fire to fuel it.  (POL:  20%, DOUBLE:  -10%)

Imperium Conservatium:  Nothing out of the ordinary here.

With the call to arms by Albiton, Conservatia accepts and Georgius himself who is still old enough to not be a loving skeleton because holy crap timescales, will lead a army of his elites. Noble lords from all along the alliance are called to lead with him and to demonstrate the power of god, and the righteousness of his followers. Georgius mobilizes his personal fleet, and three armies of a few dozen thousand set off towards Espovon. Georgius' eldest son, Lyonel, is assigned as regent of the nation in the meantime.

Ironically, I was just about to do those; I liked mine better, but whatever.  Espovon's seems still plausible and goes quite well with it.

Estrand:  Forces under the command of local rulers in Estrand's Eastern duchies overrun forces from Peshland, and are able to take a good swathe of territory in the mountainous South before enemy forces mobilize and area able to bring things to a stalemate in the more fertile regions.  (MIL:  100%)

Ezbatu:  Creation and participation in the OTA has caused local nations to have a favorable outlook on the nation.  NPC: 60%)

Atenisia:  About 10,000 Ateni die in Athens from dysentery and cholera.  Angry mobs are calling for the king to divert funds from his extravagant palace into a public sewer system.  (POP:  30%)

Avalonia:  The new provinces have fully integrated into the New Union after decades of membership.  (POL:  60%)

Galaumia:  A series of well rounded political figures arise in Galaumia and proceed to make popular and effective reforms in the tax system which lease the poor.  (POL:  80%)

Hlaohamarr:  Hlaohamarr's economy receives a real boost from the wars to the East.  Demand for Hlaoman weapons, armor, and mercenaries from all sides is high, causing a cash influx.  (ECN:  100%)

Espovon:  Albiton's inquisitors force the expulsion of a large number of people who refuse to convert to the Cassian faith.  A large number of Espovon's Jews, Dreibetungist descendants of Avalonians expelled from Arcano long ago, and Dreibetungist refugees from Zurukland are expelled from the lands of the Holy Nations and leave for Asar, Calzone, and even as far as the New Union, taking what wealth they can and what skills they possess with them.  Espovon's government is unable to stop it, despite some protest.  (POP:  10%)

Taijoau:  Seeing the turbulence in the nation, speculators and others from the North are able to take advantage of Rustuffes in various ways.  (NPC:  40%)

Imperium Conservatium:  The Pope, seeking, to award favor on the nation that has expanded the Cassian sphere the most, and to incentivise further growth from all Cassian nations, bestows a large part of the wealth seized from departing Espovs onto the Emperor.  This causes an economic boom as spending is able to be increased which makes a lot of merchants happy.   (ECN:  80%)

The New Union calls on Albhad, as the entity responsible for regional security, to do something about this.  Meanwhile, caravans are encouraged to go about well armed.  The New Union dispatches about 1,000 troops to the region to defend the caravans and to carry out some very anonymous revenge attacks and looting on anyone from Ytsur found in the free territory.  Siderland is called upon to lend a hand.  Caravans, meanwhile, give Ytsur a wide berth.

The New Union continues to act as the middleman between the East and the West.  Resources continue to be put into building ships better able to make the trek, and the journey one free of pirates and other undesirables.

Work on the cbrown towns goes well.  The use of various construction tools designed by the New Union's engineers, such as improved cranes and wheelbarrows, allows for relatively speedy work.  As part of the New Union's public works projects, crumbling bridges are rebuilt using newer and better construction techniques.

The use of coke as opposed to charcoal as a fuel source begins to be widespread in the New Union, a practice taken from smiths in the East, as well as a few other tips and tricks.  This spares the forests part of and around the New Union a good bit of use.  There is a concerted effort by peoples throughout the New Union to grow trees so that the forests can continue to be a resource in the future.  After millenia of use, they're starting to get a bit sparse, causing some alarm as the demand for wood in the New Union for shipbuilding, carpentry, and other uses is still high.

Albhad, in a closed-door meeting with all OTA representatives, calls for the subduing of Ytsur, as it seems fully possible that they are only intending on growth and expansion.  The representative from the New Union is called to make its statement and suggestions for future actions.

The representative from the New Union notes that such action is not to be undertaken lightly, as the Five Seas is no military slouch, and multiple nations in the OTA are already engaged in military action in Taijaou.  It is the belief of the New Union that Ytsur must first become estranged from the Five Seas by some means, or sufficient time must pass so as to allow the full fledged military support of key players, namely Ezbatu, before such action is to be taken.  The New Union notes that a nation so densely populated might quickly succumb to plague.

edit: plethorquote^
oh the military action is kinda slowing down:

Hwan Ghou Kai begins the process of electing local magistrates based on civillian vote in the areas still fully aligned with the new Ru empire many locals are calling "Ru'yeo".

Ghou thanks the neighboring nations who participated in the liberation effort with gifts consisting of a dividing of Gungxi's acquired wealth as well as a pledge to share with them access to the Kai college system in accordance to many of his demands on accepting the leadership of the nation (something he was personally extremely reluctant to do, but felt that he must given the support of his followers). He as well makes a promise to repay the wages of the soldiers who had participated in the combat over the coming years.

There are still alot of Gungxi followers scattered throughout various cities, however with most of the military beginning to pledge allegience to this new nation, it is deemed that foreign support is not needed in as massive of a scale any more, and the new combined Ruyeon forces should be able to handle the remainder of the transition into local district policing.

Many reforms are also promoted by the new leader of the nation, including a disbanning of Baoist rituals and the restoration of the annual Festival of Bao, however Neishah Bao had dissappeared after a major battle in Roussa and is presumed dead.

While personally Buddhist, Ghou declares the intention of the new nation to support the coexistance of philosophies in the nation, and that efforts to prevent persection between Baoists and Buddhists (and Muslims, whose population in the empire increased substantially with the inclusion of Teijina).

He commissions a new royal standard to be placed at the forefront of all the united Ru forces that in their liberating the people, the people can associate this symbol with their freedom.

Gingixao, Ashibia and Ezbátu offer to continue aid in the liberated region for up to 7.5% of their militaries, only concerning mercenary work.

Seeing that the outcome of the battle was positive, and that the Oriental region is at peace, Ezbátu sees fit that the region be drawn closer together.  Ezbátu proposes that Gungixao, Xianxan, Ashibia, Ru'yeo, and Resurgeta have embassies with Ezbátu, and that Ezbátu be permitted to do the same in return.  Alliances are proposed with Gungixao, Xianxan, Ashibia and Ru'yeo.

Ezbátu announces at the OTA meeting that it intends to help, but with the position of Ytsur, the naval superiority and slave-based manpower of the Five Seas Alliance, the Five Seas Alliance would be able to do serious damage and can effectively cut off Albhad from delivering military support.  (Albhadi representative nods)  And in effect, the Kingdom of Albhad could quickly become subdued unless something were to cut off a Ytsuri advance from land.  Cutting off this advance from sea would be unlikely, given the ability of Five Seas to maintain a heavy presence there.

Furthermore, we would hope that the Five Seas Alliance would recognize the potential of our combined power.  That being said, we should ascertain that this aggression is the doing of Ytsur alone, or if it is backed by other Five Seas powers.

I thought you said that wasn't an ultimatum

also how would they know?

Because inquisitors?  There's no way they couldn't know.  Either they are sent in to convert the populace, which they would either tell if it would be working, if it wasn't working, if the people were resisting, and if the government was causing them to resist.  Furthermore, if they were turned away, they would report back and there would be war.

Random Events No. 23

Espovon:  Albiton sends a diplomat to Espovon bearing the message that the island nation may either convert or expel all non-Cassians in its lands and become a part of the Holy Nations, or Albiton will do so by force, crushing the military, overthrowing the government, and establishing a puppet state.  (NPC:  10%)
How is this NOT an ultimatum?

I'd pretty much say it's less of an agreement and more of an ultimatum.

oh stuff I read it wrong

well that's dumb because then I would be preparing my military, I thought i was required to convert on my own - there was no implication they would be doing it

also you edited that inquisitor part and i didn't see it

more importantly how did they get word back without me stopping them?
