What is this?
Welcome to Anagaea II.  This Roleplay is a sequel of sorts to this game. The goal of this is for a nation RP with the laid-backness and freedom of older nation RPs but with the fairness of an overall moderator. As of now, there are three moderators. This may change over time once we settle into the groove of things.

The game has once been owned by a fellow veteran nation RP player and participant in the old Anagaea RP, Mikoyan, but since he found that he was unable to manage this game, he has passed it down to me.  The old topic can be found here.

Rules and General Information
  • Technology may be researched at your discretion. Do not abuse that, however. Moderators will be monitoring all of this.
  • If you decide to study and research anything, be as detailed as possible about what it is and how it will affect your nation.
  • Moderators will decide the outcomes of major decisions based on a system I have created. I would be glad to explain it over PM or some other way of communication.
  • Please try to take your current situation seriously before making a decision.
  • Everyone starting at the beginning of the game must start with a 250,000 person population. This may grow GRADUALLY over time. Random events will be generated by moderators at random times, or by a decided time as dictated by popular opinion. So don't bitch in the thread if something bad happens to you at a moderators disposal. Bad things are likely to happen to moderator nations as well.  (Modified 10/11/2014, 12/02/2014)
  • Do not request random events to be rescheduled or to happen.  They will happen completely at a moderator's discretion.
  • Your military must remain at a maximum of 20% of your population for the time being.
  • Do not think that just because there is a moderator you are restricted from doing whatever you want. If you feel like doing something, just go ahead and do it. If anything not allowed is done a moderator will spot it out. Feel free to address the moderator's decision IN A PRIVATE MESSAGE.  Do not disturb the roleplay to complain about your woes.
  • When fighting, you must wait for your opponent to respond before commencing your next attack.
  • Please PM me any major actions you make with NPCs. Also any major military decisions. Do NOT decide your outcome in battle or have NPCs agree/disagree to anything you request. You can send the quote(s) to me and I'll respond in the thread.

There is a Cassian Catholic minority.  Cassians are no longer restricted from holding any public or military office in the Avalonian government, following the expulsion of the ones who served the dictatorship which occurred after the Avalonian Council's Restoration.
There are even smaller minorities of Zitidism, Buddhism, and Baoism, mostly composed of foreigners or their descendants.

Many of Avalonia's most honorable citizens are members of the secret society Der Ordnung der Goldenen Löwen (The Order of the Golden Lion), the purpose of which is to maintain honor, peace, security, the enforcement of business contracts, and even freedom in the Southern World, operating throughout, but mostly in the New Union where the Order was founded.  The leadership, number of members, and base of operations are classified.  The Order is believed by many to consist mainly of leaders, merchants, and skilled craftsmen, all of which must be considered honorable.  Members may sometimes be identified by a gold thread sewn into their garment or a short dagger meant to allow the carrier to commit Self Delete if his honor was inescapably threatened.  Membership is by invitation only.  Cassians are prohibited by the Order from becoming members.

Military:
4,000,000.  Cavalry in steel and leather armor of the lamellar variety.  All troops carry a steel dagger with a blade about a span long.  About 4/5 use composite recurve bows of horn and wood.  The majority of the remainder use fully steel armor and carry scimitar like swords as well as fairly long spears.  Steel weapons and armor are the standard.  Ballista, catapults, and other such devices are used to attack and defend cities.  City defense also utilizes crossbows.

50,000 extremely loyal and capable career soldiers are dedicated specifically to defending the New Union's capitol, Nazgar.  These are the best of the best and the loyal of the loyal, and receive the best training and weapons.  Steps have been taken to limit the political power of this unit.

1,000 naturally left handed soldiers trained to be extremely skilled and ambidextrous in the use of the weapons used by the New Union.

Every man is trained to the point of proficiency in the use of the sword so as to be able to render service in the defense of the fatherland.  For most, this involves one year of military service during youth and voluntary practice monthly.  From there, trainees may choose to enter into active military service, local policing and militia work, enter a civil service position, or leave the service of the state altogether.

I've decided that I will be able to do requests for theme compositions.  You can listen to the currently completed themes here or on any of a nation's pages that have a theme.  The compositions will be around a minute in length, but no more than 2 minutes.  PM me if interested, and tell me what you want it to sound like, and what you want in it.  This is a free and voluntary service.

If you want the theme to be more than 2 minutes, it will be $5, and an additional $1 for every extra minute.

Equipment:
  • Weapons of many varieties, including but not limited to; Swords both short and broad, sabers, axe's, hammer's, spears pikes and halberds, and many more-- with bow's and arrows and crossbows and bolt's made of sturdy wood of varying varieties. Shield's both steel, iron, and wood are included in the mix.
  • Armor is very much the same as weapons in the sense that it comes in many varieties-- this time simply differing depending on the noble house it is made in; Brigandine armor, chainmail, kettles helms and all sorts of armor can be found, some more outdated than the majority. Almost all armor is either brazen with the house's sigil, or underneath tunics or coats with it's corresponding house's coat of arms. Occasionally, it's replaced with the flag of the empire.
  • There's a grand blend of infantry, cavalry, and archers composed of the armies. Nothing seems to have been overlooked, as of present.
