Author Topic: when ur friends think everything on the internet is a virus  (Read 6863 times)

I'm gonna hack the CIA's computers with Instagram.

My mom wouldn't know the difference between a virus and Google (joking, but she knows almost nothing about computers). Yesterday she was freaking out because the computer wasn't connecting to her phone hotspot. I leaned over, checked the "Connect Automatically" box, and OH MY GOSH it worked.

My dad never knows when I download anything though. No matter how harmless anything is (Steam, Blockland, etc), he will always have a fit about it because of data limitations, which I feel that he knows nothing about. Just the other day, he was telling my mom that she couldn't download a 2.9MB .pdf file because of data. I think we are limited to 18GB/month.

My parents pretty much understand computers really well, though my mom for whatever reason uses anti-virus stuff like mcafee and Norton

I switched my main computer over to windows defender or whatever its called recently.

my laptop still uses mcafee  though :|

my mom thinks her laptop's webcam can be accessed by hackers at any given moment

my dad thinks he knows how networking works but really doesn't

like seriously my grandfather knows more about computers than these losers

no, literally, he's very tech savvy; it's frightening.

All my friends and immediate family are at least decently computer literate. These stories make me sad. :(

Surprisingly, my parents and I are both good with computers and know the difference between a virus and a folder.

stories like these infuriate me

What if you have a parent that believes everything on the internet is trustworthy.

At least virusparanoid parents dont download the things :(

My father is a mix of both; he thinks everything on a download page is trustworthy and doesn't like examining what he is clicking.

Then once he gets adware, viruses, ect., he blames it on Blockland, Steam, the forums, and my various anti-virus programs I have on my USB drive that I use to clean up the stuff he makes.

"noo, the last time i installed hamachi on my laptop everything stopped working, and i got a bunch of viruses!!"

that's dumb but at least they're right about one thing: hamachi is loving garbage. every time i had it installed, it made my internet hella slow whenever it was active.

what the forget is wrong with you?
