Author Topic: My friend is introuble by the NSA for research?  (Read 2056 times)

Ok so, I was playing BL with a friend when he started posting alien research links

Then he shutdown his server for no reason

I asked him on steam and he said his Webbrowser was blocked by the NSA for watching research.

He told me to block out his name

Nuclear Bear: what did you look at on the site
---: well so basically i looked up "alien research"
---: i clicked on the first result, which was the youtube . x x x site
---: and it was also like
---: youtube . x x x / a l i e n / or something
---: idk similar to that
---: and then i clicked on a video
---: then this popped up

--------:"You are accused of viewing/storage and/or dissemination of banned research (child research/zoophilia/rape etc). You have violated World Declaration on non-proliferation of child research. You are accused of committing the crime envisaged by Article 161 of United States of America criminal law.
He told me to block out his name: Article 161 of United States of America criminal law provides for the punishment of deprivation of liberty for terms from 5 to 11 years.
----------: Also, you are suspected of violation of "Copyright and Related Rights Laws" (downloading of pirated music, video, warez) and of use and/or dissemination of copyrighted content. Thus, you are suspected of violation of Article 148 of United States of America criminal law.
---------: Article 148 of United States of America criminal law provides for the punishment of deprivation of liberty for terms from 3 to 7 years or 150 to 550 basic amounts fine.
---------: It was from your computer, that unauthorized access had been stolen to information of State importance and to data closed for public internet access.
---------: Unauthorized access could have arranged by yourself purposely on mercenary motives, or without your knowledge and consent, provided your computer could have been affected by malware. Consequently, you are suspected - until the investigation is held - of innocent infringement of Article 215 of United States of America criminal law ("Law on negligent and reckless disregard of computers and computer aids").
---------: should i keep going
Nuclear Bear: wait
Nuclear Bear: computer aids?
Nuclear Bear: How did you copyright something
Nuclear Bear: this feels like Bullstuff
---------: also, btw, at the top of the page it says "ATTENTION! Your browser has been blocked up for safety reasons. All the actions performed on this PC are fixed. All your files are encrypted. AUDIO AND VIDEO RECORDING IN PROGRESS."

its a form of the fbi ransomware

if its cryptolocker then tell him to wish the research goodbye

sounds like it's just ransomware

I've had a bit of experience with the ransomware technique over my years as a renegade sysadmin/tech support guy. If you know the files that it installs, and how it works, it's easy to remove. You can look the files up on a separate computer/safe mode (and Bitdefender specifically has a guide to remove it with their software),  and be rid of it. Personally, Avast has done well in finding the few sources of it that I've run into on my own computers (I don't watch that much research online, and that's a typical place to find it).

EDIT: And don't get me started on how WRONG the legal jargon is on these things.
