Author Topic: My sister is illegally holding alcohol  (Read 35829 times)

Some States offer local governments control over alcohol policy development and enforcement. Other States control alcohol policy at the State government level.

Even with this flexibility for the States, Congress retains the power to use financial and tax incentives to promote certain alcohol policies, such as the minimum legal drinking age. The Federal Uniform Drinking Age Act of 1984 sets the minimum legal drinking age to 21 and every State abides by that standard.

According to this Act, the Federal government can withhold ten percent of Federal funding for highways from States that do not prohibit people under age 21 from buying or publically possessing any alcoholic beverage.  While every State abides by this standard, State law varies on specifics about possession and exceptions to the law, such as allowing people under 21 to drink with their parents.

Why does it even matter? Unless she is harming someone by doing it, leave her alone. You just look like a tattle tale.
i dont understand why op feels the need to DO anything.

nothing lol
its just alcohol
as long as she isnt addicted or driving while drunk there really isnt a huge problem

That's from just the first 3 pages. You obviously haven't read this topic if you're saying people aren't endorsing underage drinking.

So basically playing MegaSnitch™?

if you tell your parents, maybe tell them that she's going to lie ahead of time?

No one here is endorsing drinking at age 14, shut up.
...have you even read the topic?

Two ways of going about this, the selfish way, and the kinfolk-care way. The selfish way would keep that knowledge to yourself that way your sister knows you're trustworthy, and may keep some of your secrets, sibling love. The other way would be telling your parents, she's 14 - she shouldn't be drinking anyway, if she was any older maybe it wouldn't matter but it's her health that's getting forgeted with, so you choose.

"i saw this gangster with an unlicensed gun. what should I do" - guy 1
"nothing. who cares" - guy 2
"you don't care?? is it because you own unlicensed guns too???" - guy 1

most illogical

you are incapable of reading aren't you
he said "nobody here is endorsing drinking at 14"
and i gave 7 quotes of people all endorsing drinking at 14. They're endorsing it by telling OP to let her continue drinking. I never accused them of underage drinking themselves.

how is it endorsing by not doing anything
its clear that almost all of those quotes don't agree with 14 year olds drinking. just because we say to do nothing doesn't mean we are endorsing it. we just don't care and wont go to great lengths to tattle on someone

do you have a problem with social interactions and cant read in between the lines or something? because if so don't talk to me

how is it endorsing by not doing anything
not stopping someone from doing something when you have every opportunity to == allowing them to do it

its common sense, if you can't understand that you're beyond help

I'd rat her out anyway.
You're a cunt.

It's her life, not yours. It's not like you found Methamphetamine under her bed. Let her enjoy herself.

Allowing something to happen is not the same as endorsing it. I allow people to do tons of things that I don't want them to do.
