Author Topic: Post Server Ideas  (Read 2874 times)

/title

this topic says that you can exchange ideas, so I guess that includes server ideas too.

my idea:
Golf kart jousting
players are given a golf kart and the spear from duel weapons and ride around in an arena, killing others (obv)

Totally randomized playertype TDMS

each member of each team will randomly have any playertype the owner has, and they have to pretty much defeat the enemy team.

playertypes switch every death

Car golf

A jeep gets shrunk and the player(s) must click it to get it in the hole

Dont Die

everyone is constantly losing health and you have to pick up health to stay alive
and last person left wins

Not original, but i wish for another Randomizer TDM/DM

Mario Party-esque party gamemode (client mods are justifiable)
A co-operative dungeon crawling gamemode or rogue-like
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed-like gamemode (likely possible to execute decently with some clever coding)

then one that wouldn't be code-heavy:
Platformer challenge using some interesting mechanics (maybe mine??? *rapid eyebrow raising* heheheoheuhe i'm such an egotistical jerkhole i'm ashamed of myself)

I had an idea the other month

In some Paper Mario games, there's an optional dungeon called the Pit of 100 Trials. My idea was that there is a spawn and lobby where people can buy weapons and healing items for points, along with forming parties with other players. Once a player has equipped a loadout, they can choose to enter the dungeon. Once they enter, they are trapped and cannot leave unless they get to an intermediary point, beat the dungeon, or die. Every room will be harder than the last, with the first room, say, having a 40hp knight with a stuff sword, the second having two stuff knights, third having a small bear, etc., escalating up to a pit boss with high health and damage (say, a large 1500hp dragon or T-Rex with a Pixel Bomb spell) that gives large amounts of points when killed, and maybe even some sweet loot. Intermediary floors would have a reward (say, some alright loot and ~25 points), and an exit if the player wants to leave. Room exits would only open up once the baddies are defeated, and they would be a one-way trip to the next room. Each room would give a point when cleared, maybe more for later, harder rooms. To keep players from bumping into each other, you could dup the dungeon a few times and make monsters spawn in only when players enter a zone in the dungeon

Totally randomized playertype TDMS

each member of each team will randomly have any playertype the owner has, and they have to pretty much defeat the enemy team.

playertypes switch every death
I like this idea. But what I think is depending on the playertype, the weapons will go with it.

I think I should make this for my next server. I'm going to release my other mod that no one seemed to join in for.

Visolator, i have seen you having a randomizer server up and passworded for a while, was it open at some point?

Yea, it was open for a week, I checked the whole log of players, it only seemed that only 5 players came. So I cancelled it and worked on something else.

You should have made a forum topic. That's the problem with the master server, all the good servers sink to the bottom without getting discovered. It's depressing going down there and seeing how many promising and fresh servers are empty while so many mediocre to terrible servers are filled up with little exception.

That's why you host persistently

My racing rpg took atleast a few weeks to get popular
I would get maybe 1 or 2 people a day but they would say it was fun
The people would come back and new people will discover

What about Whirlwind's skywards tiles for example? It's a fantastic server imo, is consistently hosted but simply isn't taking off.

See what happens is people stick to what they know and love

People say they want change but when something different comes along they are afraid to try it

Either way I released my Regicide and Randomizer mod here: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=268745.0

What's the point of keeping it if I refuse myself from working on it.
