Author Topic: why do people say roblox is a 'cash grab' all the time  (Read 3596 times)

i mean it's always had ridiculously high priced items, when there were mostly items for tickets they were like 100,000 for a traffic cone, now it's high priced in robux and people are suddenly complaining? ofc some things are ridiculous (group limits, not being able to make game passes, how practically worthless tickets are, other trivial things that should be free) but is paying for extras that are entirely optional really a reason to give them so much crap

you don't have to cough up money to make a game, earn tickets, use the lua programming, play games, use the forum, chat, buy shirts and other stuff, change your account, etc

the only thing that i would figure is they can suffer giving out 5 places for free users instead of 1

You answered your own question.
Not to mention the Lifetime costing as much as a console.
Also asking amounts of real money instead of high amounts of in-game money does not do any justice.

The devs said themselves that it is a cash grab not directly but

Quote
"The site is a piece of stuff."

Not sure if exact quote but this pretty much explains it

This is the definition of cash grab

isnt that like the average prices for membership stuff on games like WoW though?

Sometimes ROBLOX can be expensive, but I enjoy playing the game and making games on it, heck I even spend my money on it usually.

anyone who spends more than $50 just to play a single game is wasting their money. there are plenty of other games out there that don't charge such ridiculous prices for services (or better yet, don't charge any prices at all)

basically this

put chocolate a tie and sprinkles on a piece of stuff its still stuff

forget no, XBL and WoW are like $70 - $100 a year.

Yeah, so unless you want to get OBC (which you really shouldn't need to) yearly, you'd still be paying the same or less as those games.

Whoops I misinterpreted the prices. I thought the yearly prices were the lifetime ones.

Meanwhile WoW has one of the largest active player bases in the world, exists for ages and is actually actively developed in a nice fashion while Roblox is a game for autistic 5-14 year olds and is developed by people that don't even like the game. And you still have the option to pay more.

Just to clarify, I'm not saying roblox is a well managed game or anything but it isnt that much of a cash grab.
its about the same as any other "Free to play" game we had back in the past

the only thing I can agree is a cash grab on it though is OBC, that things just loving absurd.

Its no different than any other f2p that wants to make money.

Why do people talk about a game that's made for kids under the age of 12 as if it's otherwise?
