that's what makes it hard. the lack of item rooms.

Purist makes you play the game all the way to Moms hearts with no Item rooms, which is much harder than some think. Its like the other challenges but without the starting items.

Pretty much you depend on health ups and Devil/Angel rooms.

I remember the good old times when the purist challenge required you to beat isaac/satan.
That stuff was an actual challenge

EDIT: stuffs a lot harder than i though. Before i had mask of infamy, brimstone, and the trinity shield. Also, i found a secret room with 2 health ups, a health down, and a range and speed up pills pluss liberty cap and mini mush. I also found 3 soul hearts

Because I just found this out and others may not know, the way to access Basement Mode is to simply put in the seed "Base Ment" when starting a new run.
