Author Topic: McJobless is getting a new computer. Goodbye craptop!  (Read 3897 times)

My poor laptop is on its final legs, and I have Unreal 4 stuff to do. Let's not discuss money, because that's a whole situation I don't want to think about for now.

Tell me how bad/good I did, guys (and remember, Australian prices; we get taxed to stuff):

I didn't get a mouse or speakers since I've got those covered.

It should be noted; I wanted Windows 8.1 Pro and an EVA GTX 980, but both were out of stock. I also decided that the 4790 was much better value than the 4790K, and the only other ones available were the 5th Gen 8 Core i7s, which were $1000 too much.

aside from the new desktop
you should frame your craptop as something you never want to go back to

This is a new desktop, unless I misread what you said :)

My craptop is going to be completely wiped and used as a low power word processing machine for the whole family, and maybe some very light game work when I'm at college and their PCs refuse to work.

I don't actually hate this old bean, but it has been quite frustrating recently, and the heat it can reach at times is actually a health hazard. And it's literally disintegrating.

Why are you spending $200 on a PSU? :l

Why is he spending $134 on a keyboard :v

probably for high quality LEDs

Why is he spending $134 on a keyboard :v

The difference is that that's the kind of money I could see a keyboard having a reason to cost. An 80+ gold PSU should not cost anywhere near $200, not even if it's from a good brand

Because of Australian taxes. That was the cheapest 850W.

Why is he spending $134 on a keyboard :v
Because I'm a 1337 gamer.

To be fair, we have really high wages and less unemployment, and so it balances out in the end.
