Look, spin-off games are not a great idea to begin with.
Why not just figure out something of your own. I suppose if you really want to do this for practice alone, just do it by yourself, don't drag other people into it.
Just because the original game did well doesn't mean that you can just tag along.
Your presentation of the idea is just not very professional. If you wanted to have people help, you'd probably do better to give a better idea of what the actual game mechanics will be, and what they'd be helping with.
