Author Topic: Star Wars Ep VII reveal trailer  (Read 10269 times)

Totally not digging the trailer, or the stuffty light saber with 3 sides.

Hope I'll be surprised when the movie comes out.

That trailer was loving terrible.

RIP Star Wars.

and skywalker in a fight, and grievous, and sammy J, and.... vader

Quite a number of the dismemberments in this however occur when someone swings from well under their opponents arm, near the elbow or higher, so for a number of these incidents a crossguard probably wouldn't have done much to help.

But it could arguably be of use on a lightsabre anyway.
Don't forget though that the real reason for that design is just to provide something unique.
Think of the prequel trilogy, where they had to have a unique double-sided lightsabre in Ep1 and then someone who can weild four lightsabres in Ep3.
It's just something cool to add in is all.

arent storm troopers clones?
but there is a black one now...
Only during the Clone Wars were they all clones, while Kamino was still pumping them out.
In the Imperial period of the original trilogy they use far fewer clones, and lots of humans are hired to fill in as stormtroopers.
Consider that this is a galaxy spanning Empire and it needs millions of troops, and to keep a population under control.
Easiest way to do that is to provide jobs to the people you're oppressing and hire them into the military.

And it would have to be the case that Stormtroopers weren't all clones, otherwise Han and Luke's disguises in A New Hope would have failed completely, because they're not the same height as all the other Stormtroopers.
I know Leia claims "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper", but Luke could just be shorter than most hired Stormtroopers.
And to be fair, whether just a plothole or not, the Stormtrooper whose armour he stole fits him pretty well, so there must be non-clone short Stormtroopers.

but then again i cant imagine they wouldnt get actually skilled troopers instead of the same stuffty guy cloned thousands of time who apparently cant shoot a gun if his life depended on it
I don't know the canonity of this, but there's a fan theory that the Stormtroopers were so terrible at shooting anyone in A New Hope while on the Deathstar because they were told to be, as Luke and co. were wanted alive.
Later on when fighting on Hoth they seem to be more effective in that they are able to clear out the rebel base when they don't have Team Skywalker to deal with.

I enjoyed the trailer. It was after all only a teaser.
And I'ts getting me excited for the film next year.

have you guys seriously not watched any movie trailers ever?

this is supposed to be a TEASER not a full fledged trailer.

looks good considering JJ abrams is using some practical props and some REALLY good cgi.

The trailer was terrible.

Jk I have no idea about star wars it was ok.

"boohoo trailer was bad"

well what the forget did you expect from a teaser

damn looks better than i expected

i'm surprised too! i'm probably gonna watch the terrible prequels and get hype for the new movie.

on a lightsaber it looks like it'd just cut their hands
yeah im sure someone trained in the art of the force and how to use a light-saber is just gonna go "WHOOP" and accidentally cut off their own loving hand.

i think the new sith might actually be revan because his light-saber seems hella old based on the sound it makes(ancient sith artifact?)
and this concept art:

personally I thought this was cool as stuff.

the scene where all the stormtroopers are in the dropship was pretty stupid, looked like some generic war movie. but other than that it looks amazing.

the x-wing scene was awesome, as was the millennium falcon one.

i'm super stoked.

and in regards to the lightsaber, i'm pretty sure only that sith dude is using it. just like darth maul had the double sided saber and grevious had four of em.

That would be interesting, but unusual.
It would make him at least 4000 years old.
There's also no confirmation of what happened to Revan, if I recall. They could play it in, they might not.

As far as stories already in place under the Extended Universe, the next event should be the Yuuzhan Vong War.
This took place from 25 ABY to 29 ABY (years After Battle of Yavin [Episode 4]).
And Episode 6 took place in 4 ABY, so were Episode 7-9 to cover this, it would take place roughly 20 years after Episode 6.

I'm so psyched, the CGI looks amazing. It's incredible how if you were to watch all the starwars movies in order (4,5,6,1,2,3,7,8,9) you'd get 3 different era's of movie making technology and technique. It would be a hell of a contrast watching A new hope and then watching The Force Awakens, and seeing the incredible technological differences.

i like how the cgi actually looks realistic now

wait, jj abrams is doing the new star wars movies?
rip star wars forever
