I bought Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for 3DS.

Can you players out there give me some tips for defeating large monsters? I keep getting knocked back by them and can't get up in time.
Also, any tips for farming Arzuros drops?

remember to guard often, and try to memorize attack patterns.

I personally prefer decent duel blades for azuros

Take 5 minutes to watch the monster's attack patterns. Also farm those loving ores. What weapon are you using? If you're using any of the following then your going to have a bad time.
*Duel blades.
*Lance.
*Bow.

These generally suck and or do not have enough of a damage output. Farm farm farm forgeter just farm. Gather those loving erbs. AND NEVER PLAY ALONE ON G RANKED stuff FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

also lances are good wat
or at least they get good when you start doing harder quests

also to answer the question, i've always used longswords and dual blades
currently using dual tho

I can agree with the bow, solo at least the dmg isn't great. But duel blades are great for smaller monsters, and the lance is one of the best later on. :)

And G-Rank solo is worthwhile when you feel you can do it! It brings a pretty damn great feeling of accomplishment.

I suggest picking up Hammer. It's always been my favorite! Once you get used to it, it's the most satisfying weapon imo

Gunlances are stupid to begin with. The whole gun thing is an absolute waste of whetstones.

Ranged weapons are stupid. Simple as that.
They require worse armour, they cannot carry solo at all, and they're dumb. The only thing they're good for is shooting healing bullets at teammates.
Every single smash and bashing weapon is great.
All the slice and dice weapons are great.

Gunlances and ranged? Useless. Grab a hunting horn or a set of duals instead.
