Using a rental key is completely optional.
No, not blockland keys.
Authentication keys as an alternative to SSH passwords.

Do $pref::server::password=""; in the console.
He just said he doesn't have access to the console. Did you even read that?

The fact he started a server means he had access to the console. He is probably just entering the password wrong again.

If I were you I'd get on that. Or maybe find a way for users to set that up themselves.

Maybe he hasn't started it but he thinks he has and he's still at that menu with the numbered options.

Do quit();

You should read some of the management FAQ included in the activation email. It explains a lot of this really basic stuff.

k thx pecon

Seriously, has anyone tried to execute a normal shell on your server? That could possibly allow them to break things.
Or is there a limit to how big a user's directory can be? Because if not, someone could just fill your server with huge files and break everything that way.

Pecon, Greek, myself, and others have all combed this service over thoroughly.

I'm pretty sure all of us looked explicitly for shell injection (which you didn't even mention) shell creation, usage limits, and all manner of other problems.

Why are you posting that on the public forum topic anyway? It's not irresponsible since anyone who wanted to attack would've been smart enough to come up with those attacks on their own, but it's borderline.

If you want to audit this thing, stop asking silly questions in the topic like "omigawsh pecan did you do this" and instead just pm him directly. Maybe he'll let you look it over. I dunno.

Alright, alright, I was just worrying about possible ways people could break stuff.

Weren't you the guy who was really worried about how I wasn't using key authentication way back when I was setting up my server?

probably

Looks like I insulted instilled the fear of CONSTANT VIGILANCE in you successfully

I'm now happy to announce that I've just deployed a new system on the two High Performance Shared nodes which will help prevent your server from being overwhelmed by connection spam attacks. This system is also available for those on Dedicated nodes as well, but is opt-in only. Please contact the support email if you would like to opt-in. This service is not available for the Budget Shared node because the node does not have sufficient resources for this. If you're on us1 or us4 nodes, you already have the new system installed. All that should be required is to reboot your server. To check that your server is running this new system, simply enter
Code: [Select]
echo(isPackage(connectSpamPreventionSupportModual)); into your console. If it returns a 1, it is installed and running.

It hasn't changed. Double check you're using the right one.
