Author Topic: games flicker?  (Read 606 times)

i noticed recently that some of my games "flicker" when i try and open them

issues:
  • games "flicker" when i try and open them, then i get returned to the desktop
  • i try and open it by clicking the icon (the game is still running) and it does the same thing a few more times until im lucky enough to get it to stay open, once its open it stays that way

anyone know a way to fix this?

If they are steam games, have you validated the game files? Have you tried reinstalling them?

yes and ive experieced this game with a newly installed game too, so i dont think thats it
could it be nvidia geforce experience game settings messing with it?

Sounds like a drivers problem. Minecraft was not compatible with my drivers because they were so new, I had to downgrade. I also had the flickering problem.

drivers with my gpu or something like directx?

Well, my graphics card driver was the issue.

What do you mean "flicker"

there are two types in the video that are both causing issues:
immediately after i opened the game, and when i click on the icon to reopen it (sometimes it will go back to the desktop and ill have to repeat the process a few more times before it will stay open, i just got lucky that it stayed open on the first try)

Close every background process and try it?

restart your computer in safe mode with internet access. then, start up steam, and try launching a game that has a flickering issue.
if it still flickers, then it's a problem with drivers. since arma 3 is a newer game, your graphics drivers are probably outdated.

in that case, i have no clue. good luck, i guess.
you can still try the safe mode thing, to see if it's an issue with background processes, like tails suggested.
it could also be an issue with other drivers, or a problem with your internals.
