Author Topic: Is it safe to say god doesn't exist now?  (Read 7197 times)

This reminds me of when i was really little and I was going through a very bad time in my life, basically my grandparents dragged me to a church and i asked the preacher "if god is real and good then why do bad things happen"

and he said some stuff like "well some people dont believe in him"

and i was just like "my parents believe in god, so why does he make bad things happen to my family if hes supposed to love us"

and he just continued preaching

there was another time where my grandparents tried to heal my disease by taking me to church and the preacher literally said to pray harder

(As theology explained it) bad things happen as an extension of free-will. Yeah Ebola is a stuffty way to die but the virus itself is also a creation of God and has a right to exist.

The way (some) see it, a world where nothing bad happens is loving boring. We need bad times to know when times are good. I know it's probably easier for me to say that as a teenager living in the first world but at the same time, if everything was happy all the time, how would I ever know when I'm happy?

I think it's safer to entertain the thought of a higher being, die, and find out you were wrong than to refuse the thought of a higher being, die, and find out you were wrong

religions hard to discuss. i wouldnt say its safe to say a god doesnt exist

what proof do you have? what undeniable evidence is there to determine a god doesnt exist? none, but then again what undeniable evidence is there to determine a god does exist?

personally i dont look at religion or science as hard evidence. i dont put all my faith in one and believe thats how it is and thats how it should be. nobody really truly knows where or how everything started or why the unexplained happens, and we (at least in our life time) probably never will

personally i think religion and science (but mostly religion) is only here to keep our inevitable fear of not knowing at bay. i think that about science too, but science is a progressively changing medium. its always trying to actively find out whats out there, while religion sticks to the same basic principle, "a god did it". now am i saying that thats wrong, or that you shouldn't believe in it? no

thats just what i think

Wow this is the most well put together discussion of religion I've seen on this forum

i always thought that if god (who is supposedly omnipotent) knew that you were only believing in him as a form of 'insurance' so to speak (which he should know) then he'd deny you entrance to heaven because your belief was motivated by a fear of punishment and not any real love.

does no one believe in the random number god

im pretty sure it determines miracles
all hail RNGesus

Without suffering we wouldn't understand joy.

true

I can accept people have other beliefs than I, but I hate hate hate when people always have to talk about their religion and that's their only topic of discussion. I believe miracles happen yes, but that doesn't mean i'm christian or muslim or something.

I feel as if, religion can be good and so can science. But Religion and science cause so many stuff storms and pulls people apart, one always trying to disprove the other.

This may be a little offtopic but I think religious schools are pretty dumb for a couple of reasons. One you have to pay for it. Two you're learning about religion when there's a thing called church (or mosque whatever). And three, you can't get food or a house or a car with knowledge of your religion, can you?

That's enough for my little rant though, like I said before i can accept what your religion is, but just don't shove it down my throat.

we used religion as a way to explain things we couldn't understand and now that we can actually explain those things, it's just unnecessary. we can probably find new ways to instill good morals on children.

why else do you think the egyptians had gods and tales that explained the flooding of the nile/or why the sun existed and created light

Oh sweet I'm not the only one who's thought of this before

Idk about any other Christians who walk these forums, but I'm a Christian because it makes sense. I am an extremely science-minded person and I need backups of proof before I have a sound basis on it. From how I understand the world and scientific findings, there is a God and that God is the one from the Bible.

But I'm not here to argue with anyone. I'm just stating it as a contribution.

"'Oh, that was easy,' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed on the next road crossing."
*Zebra crossing. I love HGTTG as well.

I'm not a religious person, but I love the mythology surrounding all the different religions
