the consumer preview is being released i'm pretty sure - the preview will be free for everyone, but as soon as windows 10 final releases it'll be free to windows 8 users

remember how, before 8.1, there was no start button on the task bar? hovering over the bottom left corner gave you this ugly piece of stuff:


in 8.1 they added the start button to the taskbar again. but did they remove the completely redundant thing you get when you hover over the bottom left corner of your screen? nah, they thought making it smaller and less ugly was enough. and they thought it would be a good idea to let it cover the taskbar when it appears.
