you guys realize that if you plant GM crops then when those plants pollinate those crops germinate or whatever with normal crops and then eventually the whole world is just GM crops

i don't see why we couldn't grow heirloom plants in greenhouses

Lets asked this spliced fish how they like their jelly fish dna.
I don't think the fish can form opinions on anything. Their brains are pretty much set up for breathing, swimming, seeing, operating organs, and not much else.

you realize that if you plant regular crops then when those plants pollinate those crops germinate or whatever with other normal crops and then eventually the whole world is just normal crops

You're missing the point that regular plants are being replaced with GMO.

you're missing the point that regular plants are never going to be fully replaced with gmo varieties

"wah wah dem gmos are unnatturel!"

You're begging the question of why that's a bad thing?

"wah wah dem gmos are unnatturel!"

My horror is not actually because they're unnatural, my fear is that Monsanto want a monopoly to get lodsemone from a seed, the core to food.

how would that even happen

how would that even happen

It already is, you have to pay royalties to use Monsanto's seeds...

So you want to do away with a technology that could do away with malnutrition and starvation in the developing world because the company that makes it uses aggressive business tactics?

I suppose we should ban Windows operating system, since there were leaks showing that Microsoft was conspiring to find ways of overthrowing and kicking open-source developers out of the market because they were a threat to their business.

Or we should ban iPhones, since Apple buys a substantial amount of electronics parts from a company whose working conditions are so bad that they installed nets along their building to prevent workers from committing Self Delete.

Or even better, we should ban vaccines because the inventor of the first vaccine, Edward Jenner, tested its efficacy by inoculating an eight-year-old boy against his will with pus from cowpox blisters and then exposed him to the live smallpox virus.

If we're going to demonize and ban technology because of the people who invented it, we're going to live in a very dark world where nothing works at all.

If you hadn't noticed, the difference between seeds and Windows is:

You need food to live.
You don't need Windows to live.
