New Nintendo 3DS XL = £179.99 ($274.24 USD)

So, if you choose a New Nintendo 3DS XL over a New Nintendo 3DS, then you are paying approx. £30 ($46) extra for the following;
+1 inch top screen
+0.85 inch bottom screen
+1 hour battery charge (approx, with Nintendo products)
+9.5mm Stylus

BUT, you don't get customisable faceplates (which obviously are an additional expense, but entirely optional)

I would imagine they would sell it, but Nintendo.com isn't advertising it (just the New 3DS XL and the 2DS).
Gamespot seemed to be the same.

I don't know why they're not offering/advertising the regular New 3DS.
Unless it's some lame advertising trick to make people only go for the more expensive version.

Yeah, I really didn't get that either.

It's sort of assuming you're already a DSi/3DS user, and therefore are upgrading.
And if you're not then it's an additional purchase, of approx. £8 (from most retailers).

Do you realize how much things that'll get messed up if they changed the resolution. Either way the pixels aren't even that noticeable. Also the xl versions are much more comfortable too.
What's pretty dumb though is how it's only going to use microsd now. This means now I have find a way to unscrew the bottom if you ever want to get to it and that since I can't use my 32gb SD card that's in my 3ds right now, but have to get another one to work on this model. Ugh

Great, I didn't even read the part about it using a microSD card for memory.
Well, that's splendid, after having purchased a regular SD card specifically for my 3DS.

I mean, it's not a major issue, since I won't be getting a new 3DS for some time after they release.
But it's an added inconvenience.
Do microSD cards have a benefit over regular SD cards, besides being physically smaller?

there's a reason why amiibos are pretty rare in the us but plentiful in europe and japan, it's because nintendo has trouble shipping to america specifically

i'm sure the same things apply here. having all those faceplates would be a nightmare as nintendo can't really get shelf space because amiibo, and you already know how well those are doing in terms of shipping
