My friend who didnt have an account gave me two club nintendo codes he had and it gave me e ought coins to get me both gold status and being able to afford the calendar.
If all of the gold awards are things I already have, I'll give away the most valuable game there.

So are Wiis just not valid for coins at all? I tried to register a black Wii (Those came after May 2010 which should mean I get coins) and got nothing. To be fair a friend texted me the code and it was an error, I had to guess the code and got it right, so I only hope the code I guessed was a dud.
