Well every RTS game I tried I didn't like. I always like the way you fight in platformer games. Yes there are some exceptions to the genres but in general, I think genres can work as qualifiers.
"Platformer" indicates how you approach the world to travel and complete goals. Combat is unrelated to the platformer genre; an entry into it could have all manner of combat approaches and still qualify as a platformer. Platformers may not even have combat at all.
RTS is also pretty vague, though more indicative of the mechanics than the above. "RTS" says very little about the presentation and specific design of the game, only qualifying it as a strategy-intensive title which functions in real time.
Genres are nice, general terms to group similar games together, but when you start talking about what the individual player enjoys, you can't really speak in objective terms. It's much more valuable to ask the player to detail what their specific thoughts are on the approach to a game element, or to relate a title they feel approached the element well.
