basically this; you can buy stranges and unusuals which will make you look good

that's debatable
whenever i see somebody with a unusual i don't go "oh wow he has a unusual he's so cool" i could care less about the hat they have. I play the game for the game not to collect the hats
and i only use two stranges one i un-boxed with a key bought from selling cards and the other i bought a strangifer for also from selling cards
so no i haven't spent any money on this game

besides hats still don't make it p2w because your not any better than anybody
and name one f2p game that doesn't have premium cosmetics

also please note that you can not buy a unusual outright from valve themselves all the prices for unusual are user-generated

While we're at it for horror games, FNaF sucked, it was never good in the first place.

Also PT was cryptic bullstuff, for the secret ending anyways. Other than that it's great.

HL2+EP:1 and EP:2 were unnecessarily hyped and were overall mediocre games.
FNaF is terrible as a game.
Garry Newman is a ripe stuff.

last but not least,
HL3 is probably not even being worked on right now. Valve is too busy with Steam boxes and collecting money from the community market.
