The answer to the question of whether or not viruses qualify as "alive" is still a subject of debate among modern biologists, and depending on which definition of "alive" you use, they could be said to go either way. They meet most of the technical qualifiers of life other than the ability to reproduce, although they do reproduce parasitically by modifying the genetic makeup of host cells. Whether or not this qualifies as an ability to reproduce is yet-to-be-decided among the scientific community. In short, there is no definitively correct statement as to whether or not viruses truly are "alive", though the technical evidence shows that they are not.

Not true. There is an accepted definition of the word alive and while the categorization of viruses is under debate, under the currently accepted definition of alive viruses cannot be categorized under that title. It is possible that the term alive will be redefined to include viruses, but right now viruses are not alive regardless of active debate.

The shape of viruses is pretty loving neat, I also learned in science class some times ago that a lot of stuff goes on inside a cell. One video thingy shown a little 2 legged thing walking across strands of something.

Not true. Viruses aren't alive.
There's kind of a debate on whether viruses are alive, and biologists haven't really agreed on one answer. Outside of cells, viruses are literal inanimate specks, but they become super active when they actually enter the cell membrane and start traveling to the nucleus. I like to think of them as hibernating landmines that 'wake up' when they bump into something capable of being infected.

oops I missed this post.

Which definition of life are you using?

Are you referring to this bigass thing? http://youtu.be/wJyUtbn0O5Y?t=1m14s

#GoogleWarriors trying to debate.
I don't think we should call anyone GoogleWarriors until they start namedropping capsid proteins and viral genome types.

Yes, that big ass thing
it's actually a small ass thing but okay

>Anyone called #GoogleWarriors

or does autism cause vaccines?

it's actually a small ass thing but okay
Its big in comparison to the cell size and such

i think blockland causes autism :D

i think blockland causes autism :D
no, you're wrong
I cause autism

What if, autism is the cure to autism but we don't know that yet?
