Yes, perhaps in this situation sure. My response was for a more general range on the odd stigma against GUI/HUD support. I'm not saying anything about how it should/how it could be done as that's much past me.
God bless the USA ;_;
Either way, client environment is something I've wanted and suggested before.
I just hope future modders don't mess it up with /commands.
That, in its entirety, is all I meant by my comment.
Christ. I should just start off with the explanation next time...
If Badspot implemented the engine changes, the mods that use it would probably come in various forms, from RPGs that leave it all in the script, to a set of client output events, probably even hallucinogenics in a drugs mod.
Edit: Holy forget I just realized you could make proper night vision goggles with this.
I understand the complaints about how controlling mods can be dumb when they work through slash commands, but there aren't many other options in most cases. Yeah you can make a GUI for it, but first of all that means you need a way to open it, either contributing to an ever growing set of keybinds for the users or cluttering up some other GUI, and second of all it means a server mod turns into a server/client mod, and other admins on the server need it to properly utilize it. Best option so far is RTB prefs but those are limited in what you can do with them. Blockland by default needs some dynamic menus that work like that, but that's a suggestion topic for another day.
