This video should explain getting them to work and using them
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOeHkZsIJs4

But for models, you'll need to right click their animation set, click 'Override Materials', open their model in the Element Viewer, go to their materials, right click the name of the name you want to change to an RT texture and add a string called $basetexture with a directory to the RT texture as it's value

If you have the camera set up properly and all, you should be able to lock that camera to the now reflective object and just go from there

However! How the render target turns out on the model depends entirely on it's UV mapping, so it can be pretty messed up, or just reversed or flipped incorrectly

daaaamn this is amazing

so that's what width and height on light sets were for all along

hm... can you set multiple rt cameras or are you limited to 1?

You could probably use as many as your computer can handle, and just as long as you have a camera for each material you override with the render target texture

what would you name it? (element viewer wise)

since 1 is "_rt_camera", what would the second one be?

It would be the same thing, wouldn't it? Like, maybe there's something you could change with the camera or some kind of console command? I could have sworn that RT cameras were per-material or per-model/animation set, i might be wrong though, i haven't really gotten to mess around with it

apparently there is no way to get more than 1 rt camera in the same shot.
damn.

but luckily

I noticed that people were still using the version of More Gun that the Engineer plays in Meet the Engineer that has all those stops in it, so for anyone who is not aware, a while back, i made a version of that where it's all stitched together to make it complete

And i've just recently updated it to fix a slight skip in the audio, so now it's even better than before!

can anyone link me to sfm's that ARENT tf2, half life, fnaf, minecraft, zelda, my little pony, or anything else depending largely on something else for its content? dont get me wrong, i have no problems with those kinds of sfms, but ive noticed theres a surprising lack of actual original content for sfm. its such a powerful program and theres clearly a lot of talented people that can use it. why is no one expanding out of already existing franchises?

even adult swim made sfms using tf2 characters. like wheres the original stuff y'know what i mean?

well it was an sfm for a tf2 commercial on adult swim, but my point still stands

i remember two from the recent saxxy awards
a dangerous photoshoot
pombay

the reason there's a lack of original content is probably because it's a huge pain to make original models, textures, and maps to make a video

or using the original models already found in the workshop decently

the thing i hate most about source filmmaker is when i try to press the keyframe button "M" and i push "<" instead which plays the movie backwards

i guess... idk im just surprised its taken so long for people to branch out like the videos you posted. i didnt really even enjoy them, but i still like them more than most of what ive seen already just because of how original they are
