Author Topic: Iphone, android or windows phone?  (Read 2418 times)

If I had the money, I'd go for an iPhone, if I want a good phone without spending much, I'd get a Moto G.

That's how I would go, but everyone has it's own preferences for phones so buy what you want and be happy with it.

go with an android

in the end the type of person you are doesn't matter, but if you're a "techie" you can get so much more out of an android than an iphone. I've also noticed that androids tend to last longer and run better over time than iphones, externally and internally. Personally I hate apple software, and how restrictive/proprietary apple products/software is. I myself am a coder and a tech nerd so I love the customization of androids-- with some time and effort you can modify your device to the point where it's basically a whole different phone
Er, I used my iPhone 5 for 3 years and its still in perfect working condition running iOS 8. Still runs as fast as the day I got it.

this is what pisses me off. no they dont last longer or run better over time. they ALL last just same and its annoying that with 1 year usage a phone whether its android or iphone, slows down. i just want to take it and smash it over the head of the manufactures.

my rant is that the community behind custom android roms is completely filled with handicaps that cant do anything but edit a bunch of images and repack a clone of another rom with paint scribbled all over it. im serious. the majority of the android ports suck ass and are undocumented to the point where you have things clustered in the device that even the creator of the rom didnt know were there. i think that these roms, which are basically forget all in features and performance, damage the device by leaving trash around, causing memory leaks and other stuff that slow devices down or make them heat up. then when you switch to another better rom they leave garbage laying around hidden and they cause issues in the future with other roms. probably because they never tried to program the installation so it cleans up everything before it installs.
it doesnt fair much better that stock roms are just as equally bad sometimes as the custom roms. feels like they do it on purpose just so you have to buy a new device every year.

as for iphone slow downs god knows what they are doing. most slow downs happen from the handicapped 12 year old children tweak makers who make low quality tweaks that leech onto your phone like a loving parasite and stuff everywhere making a complete factory reset necessary after some usage time or a reboot. seriously i got a bunch of tweaks on my 5s. runs fine. but after 1 week of straight usage i need to reboot because it starts being choppy. runs fine after, for 1 week, but goddamn.

we need an actual team of programmers who arent brain dead to make a good mobile os or anything that involves modding said os. i think it should be down right illegal to modify these roms poorly and release them to the public.

i have an iphone6+
its great

they don't make the roms, they maintain them

I've had a pretty nice experience with Windows Phone so far. Main problem is that the phone I had was designed for WP8 and when the WP8.1 update came, things started going south mostly because it was more demanding on resources. It's a kinda old phone though, so getting an updated one that was designed for WP8.1 is probably in order soon.

I feel lonely on the poll.

and modify them poorly. no matter what they do, they always manage to forget something up.

if you buy an android youve been severely warned when the time comes to install a custom rom. youll be spending your time in frustration trying to get anything to work.

oh yeah and carrier based phones are the worst of all time... rogers/bell/at&t. all exact same phones but require differently modified roms to run properly. oh man the memories of flashing the wrong rom without any indication it was the wrong rom. just had to take a wild hit in the dark

Nah, you're not alone. I like them because they're easy to develop for, tbh. Windows even has a first party development studio, which in my eyes, is a huge plus.

what phone have you used? While I do agree some are buggy as forget (I have a visual roaming bug on international based roms) I don't see how they are poorly made, most lollipop roms are new, and are in nightly stages so I don't exactly blame them for being like that.

dell streak (although this was stuff to begin with and old)(hey now that i bring it up, i was like one of the few to start the phablet trend, yes im popular)
samsung galaxy s1 series (captivate)
samsung infuse 4g
lg optimus g
samsung galaxy note (two of them)
note 2 (still runs stock and it runs like a chubby kid because im afraid that if it touches a custom rom it will implode)

now that i think about it i want to revert my argument from the whole android community directly to the samsung side. they gave me the most trouble. although lg optimus g was a bitch to get up and running because of poorly documented roms. they all were slow on stock after a ~1 year use time, they all still are slow on custom roms now

and i never want to touch another note in my life. the infuse 4g sporting a sad single core runs faster and smoother than the note with a dual core and even the note 2 with a quad. smh

its your fault for buying samsung lol, as i've said android isn't samsung
its all up to the people who maintain them, if you end up with some budget stuff then you're going to get people from third world countries maintaining your phone, but idk how you had poor service with an optimus, my g2 is fine
heres a video of me loving around with it with cm12
http://youtu.be/YrswCYE2Mso
not slow to me :v

idk man i was a fool. i followed the crowd. "samsung is the best!"

then by the time i realized what i had done it was too late. i was left with a terrible impression on android devices overall because they all run similar things under the hood. so i moved onto iphone while everyone was crying how bad it was, truth is that it wasnt bad. then ill move onto the windows phone to see the big fuss and hope its not as bad as my first phone phase was. then ill make a full circle again and hope to hell i dont have to buy another 10 devices before i find one that works the way i want it to.

its like a damn circle and im on the other side. i leave because i see stuffty mobile phones then when i switch the good ones pop up. then when i come back they are all crap again. im angry. like goddamn why cant someone just make a good damn phone that lasts like a decade so i can finally settle. i always have to switch every year. i swear to god ill just get a flip-phone and yall can go to hell with these "smart"phones leaving my pockets dry

I have a Moto G and it works very well, fast,  smooth,  and the build quality is great. The last time I tried iOS was years ago and I haven't  used it as my own phone so I can't really have an full opinion on it if I can't fully evaluate it. Also I've never touched a windows phone so I can't say anything about that.

moto g is p cool, droped it like three times so far and only a dent, hadn't needed a case for it

android all the way. im getting a moto g 2nd gen sometime this week when it gets here, then im putting android 5 on it
