Wow, this whole drama is just, wow. originally i thought you had a good point nal, but now it's just deteriorated into the same arguments used time and time again.. "blah blah clique", and "blah blah . The same arguments you make it oh so clear that you hate.

school, rent, groceries, power bill, cable bill, cellphone bill, insurance, textbooks, gas, car repairs, etc, etc, etc. He said he has a low paying job at the moment so I really doubt he can afford $400 a year for his server.  Ignorance isn't always bliss my friend.

Yeah I didn't really take the mansion talk seriously but it was still a dumb comparison. He needs to realize that even trying to live by yourself in a small apartment is rough. Hell my buddy has an apartment and pays $800 a month for rent alone.

Having a job doesn't mean you should have to pay out of pocket for other people's enjoyment.

I pay for all that stuff since I moved out at 18 and work as an engineering intern part time in addition to being a full time student.  When I said 'very well paying job' earlier in this thread, I meant relative to a young student like me (just under 20/hr).  Which is good, but I still have all of the above to pay for, amplified by higher living expenses in Alaska. 

I figure if the community can sustain a server via donation funds, that's a really cool thing.

I was thinking pre 1989, but zapk basically abandoned Blockland and made a big scene leaving so I'm pretty sure he doesn't care, If the creator doesn't care why should OP care.

the donation system is basically a thing which has been going on in many other online games which allow third party servers, this isn't a new thing, and we can't expect it to not leak into blockland.

see minecraft for a example, most of the servers have some form of a donation service, either by greed or just to keep the server up.

but the theft of a gamemode and removing all credit from the original author is just wrong.

I'm against donating for items, but absolutely adore tip jar donations.
I feature a little coffee cup in the corner of the main menu of any game I develop, It'll send you to my Paypal where you can send 1 USD or more to buy me a coffee for developing some cool game.
It's the least someone can do, you know? Buying a drink for someone who made something you enjoy.

To me, donating for items is like doing a good deed and bragging about it to other people, especially with permanent vanity items.
It's just not cool, and pretty annoying.

If you struggle financially, don't host a server, wait until your financially stable, because it simply costs money.
Instead of up-keeping a server, try developing something else that you can sell and earn extra living money off of, because donations are not the way to go.

Heres a better idea, develop a server that isnt literal stuff, use what money you can spare/donations (fortheserveronly) to help improve apon it.

Or copy yet another idea because its easy to replicate, take someone elses mod for it, remove all indications it was their mod, and continue to be cancer
