Monogamy - Your Honest Thoughts?

I've been doing some reading and research, and this question still kinda remains unanswered to me, so I wanted your guys' take on it, I mean we as a species created the social contract known as marriage, so how do you guys feel about it?

Is monogamy natural and even if not, is it fine for the human species to exhibit?

it's certainly not natural. our ancestors had to make lots of babies somehow : - )

though i have no problem with monogamy, it's perfectly fine but having multiple wives/husbands would be a little weird but if all parties want to do that it should be allowed

we're a cultured species now. yeah, during the cavemen days you forgeted everyone, but times are different now. monogamy is the norm, and will be so for a long time until for some reason the human race starts dying off.

The way society and emotions have evolved make something like this acceptable.
Back in the days of early man, their intent was to survive and create offspring. Nothing else.
Humans of today are much more complicated than humans of BC.

People in this thread are confusing monogamy (having a single significant other) to polygamy (having multiple significant others)

If you believe that the Bible holds truth, or whatever other religious texts, I'm using the Bible example because I'm a westerner, then monogamy is the natural and proper order of things. 

If you don't believe in such things, I don't see how you'd have a problem with anything like that.
