Author Topic: RE: What color is this dress?  (Read 6973 times)

"kimon uses a website i don't like and i have never looked into beyond the stuffty memes and piss-fests about it, that's grounds to dismiss him"

Haha I know plenty about tumblr. Beyond the piss-fests, that site fosters a certain way of thinking, and a certain type of community just as any other website does. Nothing to be mad about, just poking fun at tumblr.

Also I didn't lock the thread because Im not a babby and act like mr. end all.
have fun with your de-railed thread
the real dress is blue and blakc, the image is an optical illusion, good bye
i think what rally is trying to say is that there's a legitimate psychological reason for why people perceive the colour of the dress to be different from what others perceive it to be, and possibly different from what actually exists

ofc this is called an illusion, but it doesn't change what the real image actually represents. when you begin discussing semantics like lighting, you're going to be battling against these false perceptions
it has 0% to do with psychology and 100% to do with your eyballoons

have fun with your de-railed thread
it's not derailed though

can anyone with the back blue vision do what op did with the image and have the dress and colours there
pageloss, I am REALLY curious about this

"but it says what color is the DRESS not PICTURE"
well we're arguing about the color of the picture because that's the first thing you showed us and it's a controversial topic
we get it's actually blue and black but we're talking about why we see what colors in the original

>"What color is the dress?"
>posts stuff photo

What the forget do you expect? What did the OP of the photo really expect? You think they didn't post this without wanting to know what people think of the colors in the photo? Obviously they know what the color of the loving dress is, unless they're goddamn colorblind. They're asking about the photo because of the situation that occurred between texting that photo to a friend. This entire situation is about the photo and Kimon is being an autistic memelord about it by taking this stuff too far.

i mean it's hard to say nothing to be mad about when simultaneously committing a fairly massive genetic fallacy

it has 0% to do with psychology and 100% to do with your eyballoons
yes eyeballoons are certainly a factor here but if it were exclusively balloons of eyes it wouldn't change probably (going off the rods/cones piece, dilation and other temporary stuff caused by the environment who knows) who knows i'm not a doctor go tell your mom i'm crying

it goes sensory->perception; the eyes just receive and relay the information; if the information is faulty, the eyeballoons are to blame, but if the rationalisation (not necessarily conscious, has to do with attention and context as well) is faulty, the brainballoon is to blame

i think there's certainly a p fair amount of blame on the eyes in certain cases but i'd wager that this is more so people's minds trying to compensate for dynamics unnecessarily. i don't have anything to back that, but that's what i would test in a scientific study

lmao this is the most pseudo-scientific laughably bullstuffted thing i've seen today

Jesus forget you people are pathetic for getting this angry and offense about a loving dress. I haven't even escalated stuff yet and you're already spitting out this hot fire at me when I'm just trying to tell you something like a decent human being. Guess that goes out the window now.

  • Whether or not the dress is actually blue, some people are still going to see the picture as gold and white, whether or not they know the dress is blue. There is a reason for this.
  • The picture is in poor lighting. Some people will compensate for this differently. Everyone's brain is different.
  • Your retina has two main photo receptors: rods and cones.
  • Your cones are what interprets color.
  • Your cones can be more sensitive to blue, red or green. This varies from person to person.
  • Because of this, some people will see blue and black, while others will see gold and white. People who's cones are very non-sensitive may see the dress switch between both.
  • You are a richard.

True, man. But I could probably say anything and he'd still be losing his stuff over it. I just have a weakness for taking jabs at the stereotyped hyper-aggressive people that hang out on tumblr.

I remember when the babby was just initially trying his best to make fun of Tumblr, but look at him now, he has become Tumblr.

STARE LONG ENOUGH INTO THE ABYSS, AND THE ABYSS STARES BACK INTO YOU.

Just thought id like to add that im eating icecream out of my blue and yellow bowl

What if someone bleached a black and blue dress and it is now gold and white?

well yeah that's true the statement i made was a bit too simplistic

no i still love making fun of certain tumblr, i guess i just dont post about it that much, but when people bring up the fact that i frequent tumblr as an argument it ruffles my rump

oh my god people are losing their stuff here too

how can a white and gold dress upset people so much  :cookieMonster:

but seriously, if your eyes are stuffty you see white-gold in the oversaturated image because humans cray

otherwise you a baller who don't need no man with PhotoShop to tell you what blue and black look like

So you're just gonna go out of your way to be as hostile as possible and then not reply to the people you're offending because they're offended? Sound a little loving circular to you? Maybe just a way to cover your own ass because you now realize you have no idea what you're bitching everyone out over?

Yeah, you're right. This argument isn't going anywhere, that's exactly what I was telling you richardweed, you've dug yourself so far into your trench you can't even see over the wall far enough to notice that there's nobody on the other side
