Tippy pats Jaakko on the back.

"Don't worry we'll get you drunk as forget tonight. Then you won't have to overthink anything."

"I can't drink, not allowed. Nurse said that I can't because I'm coked up on painkillers. I hope that going out will wear me out enough so that I can sleep,"

Jaakko puts his free arm over Tippy's shoulder.

"Either way, your soldier's insight probably has kept me from losing my mind, thank you, Taylor," he says.

caesar sees the news about dorites and breaks down

"Is it alright if I join you guys?"

"You're welcome. Don't be so sappy or you're going to make Morten shed a tear."

Jaakko feels the patch on his chin. Under it he can just barely make out the suturing.

"During the First World War, heavy bomber crews believed that once your luck bent, it would soon run out. A superstition, but I can't help but feel if it were true," Jaakko murmurs.

"During the first world war, every man including his mother had polio. Probably the reason superstition was much more popular i think."

"Bullstuff, I'd bet this crutch you didn't eat certain sweet rations and prayed to knick knacks before your combat ops in the Army, Tippy. Perhaps you even carried a bullet engraved with your name and serial, so that you always knew where that special one was?" Jaakko sneers.

"Nothing so pitiful. No. If i did say my prayers, i'd make sure they came true with or without the gods. And i can tell you, the gods are starting to look bad with me around."

Jaakko moves to Tippy's right side and puts his arm over her shoulder for support. He jokingly offers the crutch.

"Alright Djuriskas," he remarks, "Blasphemic, really. I'm sure Arkhip would be disturbed to hear such heresy."

: He's not the only one. On second thought, it might be in her best interest to stay behind.
