Jaakko takes a bite of his food. He speaks up again after he finishes.

"What are you planning on doing in Kintharia anyway? I'd bet it would be hard to find a job with all the mechanization over there," he says.

Jaakko takes a bite of his food. He speaks up again after he finishes.

: We still are not sure yet. Maybe it will end up being difficult, but I am sure it will be preferable to the alternatives. I would rather die than live in Mercana, and the obsession many of your people have with "freedom" without fully understanding what it means is very hard to deal with.

: You are missing the point. What I am saying is that someone who is born "free" and assumes it to be a right of all living things will have a very different idea of what it means than someone who spent the first twenty-four years of her life in servitude and had to earn their freedom.

: First, the labor is not "free". Second, are there not cities in Aesthia which exist only to be cheap, nearby housing for badly paid workers for the local corporation? How can you condemn our way of life when your country performs similar practices on an industrial scale?

Your country needed slaves so bad that you were linked to a human trafficking operation in Gervasia. I'd bet if your countries slaves were freed then the Delta would have broken up faster than when they all realized we were steamrolling them. Nor do we have Aesthian poor fight in gladiatorial pits or commit to terms of service just to stop being second class citizens," Jaakko retorts.

He looks unamused.
