"There's five of them, waiting at the end of the street on the right-hand corner. At least three, maybe all of them are armed with automatic rifles, and all of them have plate carriers. They're survivors from a heavy bomber that was shot down, I think I heard the escape pod crash land somewhere in this area."
: Ah, I see.

The old man starts talking through his headset.
: [Joachim, keep your head down. Ozzy's going to take care of the Aesthians, then come pick you up.]

He slaps the side of the AAA vehicle.
: [Driver, advance 100 meters. Gunner, traverse right 110 degrees, down 75 and prepare to engage enemy infantry.]

The diesel engine next to you clanks into gear and roars to life as the tracked vehicle begins pulling away. A ball-shaped turret on top whirrs quietly as it tracks past you, a yellow-green shimmer betraying the existence of a large focusing chamber. Once the AAA reaches the end of the street you hear shouting in Aesthian and the report of automatic rifles, answered by a ten-second burst of pulsed laser fire. Then, silence.
: So. Can you tell us anything useful about those heavy bombers?

Bell requests a resupply of 4 AGMs.

Ellie requests 11 HSMs to top off the Tukreb's hardpoints.

It takes a few seconds for Ash to look away from the anti-air gun and register the old man's question.

"Well, to start, they're Brynhildr-class flying wing airships powered by four fusion engines, two on each side in nacelles separate from the main fuselage..."

Ash goes on as he recounts his experiences fighting against the cruisers.

Lorens taps on the oil gauge out of anxiety as he waits for the Zentragothic AWACS to descend upon the flight. He requests 6 AGMs to fill the remaining pylons on the Tornado.*

Scorch requests 8 AAMs.

Jaakko requests as many JSMs as he can carry.

The stars above Skytracer's group go dark as the jet black support plane flies overhead.
: AWACS Spyglass, reporting for resupply op.

The crewmembers, all five of them, turn off the flashlight attachments on their weapons to avoid giving their position away as they follow you. One of them briefly peeks around the corner.
: Can't see stuff. I hear an engine though.
"Full complement of AAMs."

Shortsword's team reestablishes contact with the bomber formation.

: Here they come again! All defensive guns, traverse right and prepare for incoming fighters!

Skytracer's team follows the allied fighters into the formation and finds them getting picked off by the Aesthians, who have regrouped at their cruiser formation and are staying within their defensive radius. The Imperials are keeping them occupied, allowing Skytracer and company to close to missile range unopposed.

Walt sets his sights on one of the Aesthian bombers ahead. "Taking aim on the Forintelse."

Scorch gulps, given the condition of his aircraft.
"Engaging Musket."
He fires two AAMs each at Musket-3 and Musket-4.

: Let's get some missiles down on the Forintelse's starboard engine block.

Bell fires two AGMs on the airship.

Skytracer checks her countermeasures.

".. Well, I'm not sure if we can do enough damage before dying."

“Firing,”

Jaakko looses four JSMs on Bell’s target.

"Our defensive situation is... lacking, to say the least. Let's try to take out Nectar squadron to avoid a repeat of the last engagement."

Ajka launches 4 of her AAMs at Nectar-1 and starts to line up a shot on Nectar-2.

Lorens slaves the TGP to the Forintelse's starboard engine.

"Snowman, attacking target," Lorens ripple-fires two AGMs in concert with Bell's and Jaakko's volley.

This happens.

"Let's get some missiles down on the Forintelse's starboard engine block."
Bell fires two AGMs on the airship.
Ballistic AMS rolls to destroy AGM 1: 63 - success
Interceptor missile destroys AGM 2

The sole remaining point-defense gun shoots down one of your heavy missiles, and an interceptor missile from the Tyazhelamek takes down the second.

“Firing,”

Jaakko looses four JSMs on Bell’s target.
All at once, the missiles strike along the engine block, blasting through the weakened armor and damaging the vulnerable internals within. The relatively low yield of the JSMs compared to the AGMs proves to be a significant boon rather than a downside- rather than simply destroying a huge portion of the engine within, vital areas are pierced by shrapnel. One such area is one of the vacuum-sealed plasma containment chambers. As what happened with Snowman's Raven, air is sucked into the breach and ignites in a brilliant explosion that severs the wing entirely.

Lorens slaves the TGP to the Forintelse's starboard engine.

"Snowman, attacking target," Lorens ripple-fires two AGMs in concert with Bell's and Jaakko's volley.
Lorens' missiles are engulfed in the explosion.

: [...We'll get the other one then.]
: Damn it! Swap all missile ports to defensive configurations! We can't shoot them all down but we can last long enough to reach our objective!

No SAMs are received from the Tyazhelamek.
Now entering Missile Range of the AFS Temnabog; and the Grzmot, Blixtkrig, and Vaktare will be in Missile Range next turn.

The first interceptor is destroyed, and Foxbat 2 begins running for cover under the airships.
: Oh stuff, they're pissed.
: Nectar, Musket. We got you covered.

Scorch and Gerowitz both pick up a pair of IR missiles.

A transmission comes through from the battlegroup, barely intelligible to those who even speak the language over the background noise of the ship's alarm and what sounds like either wind or fire whipping past the transmitter.
: [All aircraft, this is the Indomitus. Half of our weapons are offline, we have fires on multiple decks, and the rest of the battlegroup is in even worse shape. It's all up to-]

The message ends prematurely.
Aesthian Airships will reach their target in 9 turns.

Ajka fires her guns at Nectar-2 before popping 2 flares and jinking away.
