Yeah neither do a lot of military forces. I'm pretty sure the US Army just goes around in a vest with shoulder pads, elbow pads, knee pads, and fatigues everywhere else.
that's a good point

still though
their legs are wide open
that's their weak point
I'd like you to look at this informational graphic about cover, that thing that most soldiers sit behind while they shoot at each other in a firefight.

Notice what isn't visible?

yeah well we'll win the war with or without your groin and legs

Tippy finishes hooking up power specific points to the car battery. She also stripped off some of the more damaged chassis parts of the bot. It kind of feels that some of the armor pieces are unnecessarily heavy. Tippy carefully detaches the arms and legs and sets them aside. Don't want a thrashing homicidal robot bouncing around the room do we?

She pulls out a Multimeter and tests the connection points for positive energy flow. The screen flashes green indicating that the battery is indeed live.

She holds her breath and flips it on.

Ballistic armor does not stop bullets, if that NAUC soldier gets shot in the leg with an adequately powerful round (See: everything everybody else ever is using as their standard issue) it's going to hurt like a motherforgeter. This isn't a situation where having extra ballistic plates makes you even remotely bullet-proof, just slightly bullet resistant. Sure, that NAUC soldier isn't going to be plinked to death as easily by a stuffload of Kintharian quads spraying him with 5.7mm rounds, but he's still going to die. It's not like the armor just magically stops bullets.
Why are we having this whole conversation about bullets when shrapnel is the #1 something cause of wounds in war.

Because blockguy is implying that the lack of thigh armor is bad because you can shoot them in the legs. The rebuttal was saying that no personal armor (with one significant exception that'll be posted later, maybe even today) on Requilary will save your legs from being shot.

The power turns on, but the machine remains still.

Tippy decides to leave it to charge.

pretty sure you just aim for people, not parts.

After a while it starts looking around the room.

After a while it starts looking around the room.
Tippy looks at it closely

"Hello?"

: What do you want.

: What do you want.
Tippy feels slightly elated from her success.

"That's a very good question actually. You do happen to have something i want. But its closed off, in your chest panel which is magnetically locked. I'd like to request access if you'd be so kind."

"Why? It's not like i intend to do away with you. I'm not even after the most valuable thing you have in there. It's a tiny little piece. And the fluid inside it is rare."

Tippy pulls up a chair and sits in it.

"Here's an idea. What can I give YOU in return for that part."

oh my god

you're going to get everybody court marshaled and executed if you don't make the robot kill us first
