Damn, no sight of the Wyvern?... What if- "forget! I've got multiple fox 2 inbound, defending!"

Richard pulls up into a climbing spiral and dispenses flares. Yamato and the others are still a little ways below. With a little luck, the added altitude might put a damper on the missiles' ability to intercept.

"... Tempest! ... Hawkeye!" forget, what was I going to say!? It takes a moment for Richard to collect his train of thought. "One of you! Enable HMD FLIR and search low! For the Wyvern!"
"On it."
I toggle my wallhacks turn on the FLIR and start scanning for the Wyvern.
The Wyvern is not below you.

"Breaking off."
Bell drops a packet of flares and pitches the aircraft up. She fires up the afterburners and speeds up in a steep ascent.

The Kintharian team, sans Yamashiro, who is maintaining her distance and height advantage, and Xiaomei, who is still unaccounted for, turn tail and begin to rapidly fall back towards their starting area.
"Negative, the F-35 doesn't have that module. Hawkeye, you're ground attack, you should." I roll over and dive on the J-20 firing at Tourist, letting an HSM go.
The J-20 drops a single packet of flares and attempts to turn around to fall back with the rest of her team...

...but the missile is having none of it and smacks right into her engines as she starts flying away.

Blockguy has 1 turn to respond or the missiles will be an automatic hit.

"The Huitz use guard dogs on bases to ward off jungle animals. They also have hunting and attack dogs too, I believe,"
: That's adorable. We use automated guns. Or would, if we could get them here.

There's a short pause, and then you see what color is left in her face drain once the coin finally drops.
: That had better not be an attack dog.

Qwep, I only loosed one HSM and my RGM I launched wasn't accounted for.

Gus breaks off and flicks the afterburners, climbing with his squadmates.

Bell starts lining up a shot on Yamashiro.

Qwep, I only loosed one HSM and my RGM I launched wasn't accounted for.
my b, i went to account for the RGM fired and knocked off an HSM instead

"There is a kennel on base, I believe, but it was empty. It's probably outside the wire,"

"There is a kennel on base, I believe, but it was empty. It's probably outside the wire,"
Yukamo is already rushing of the room before you finish your sentence, presumably to lock herself in a closet or something before the Deltan commando team she believes to be coming storms on to the base.

"Dammit, can't find anything."
I look around with the FLIR still on, hoping to pick something up that isn't a missile.

I pop flares and perform some evasive maneuvers.

Richard watches the advance group turn tail. He weighs the options. Either go against a single higher energy opponent or chase after three lower energy opponents. Both look bad. Still no sight of the Wyvern. Regardless, the choice is obvious.

"I'm going after the Sulla up high. Tempest, fly cover for Hawkeye. Stay in combat spread and check your six."

Supersonic fire streams out of the exhaust nozzles as the Sabre takes to higher altitudes. "Shortsword, Sabre, I'm coming up on your 4 o'clock. Readying heat." The distinct IR growl winds up as the AAM seeker cools down. Richard locks onto Yamashiro's Sulla and fires a missile. "Fox, out!"

"Roger." Gus slows down and forms up with the lumbering K-20.

"Yukamo- wait!"

She turns her head as if to only catch what I said, then rights and runs off.

I quickly look into Deltan dogs. I read that dogs in the deltan are massive, and specifically bred for the climate. There are few breeds, with very specific jobs. I read a line that claims that the dogs had been bred to be friendly to people, but not animals.

I clench my teeth and investigate.

Outside, on the outside of the razor wire, there are two dogs. The first is a massive, bulky beast. It has a square head and huge jaws. It's coat is short, and belly seems to have little hair. It is dark brown and black, and it's eyes appear to be an uneasing yellow. It's roar-barking into the air.

The other dog is caught in the razor wire. It is massive as well, but not bulky. It's very tall and defined, and has disproportionally long legs. The second dog also has a black mask, and is uniformly dark brown compared to the first, who's brown coat is marred with black. The second dog appears to have a mane, which it has raised. Both dogs have large, pointed, erect ears.

The first, bulky dog sees me.

OooRAOH

I walk towards the fence, and stick my fingers through the chain link fence. The second dog rolls its head back to sniff, struggling in the wire. It whimpers.

"Shh, it's okay," I say to it, as if that would help it at all. As if it would understand me.

I decide to hustle before guards get to the dogs.

Bell starts lining up a shot on Yamashiro.
She has changed her heading and is headed directly towards your entire flight. By herself. With no backup in sight.
: [They didn't buy it. They're coming straight at you.]
: [I figured they wouldn't. Commander, are you in position?]
: [It's less than ideal, but it'll have to do.]

I pop flares and perform some evasive maneuvers.

You trash the incoming missile and form up with your squadmates.

You fall in next to Yui just in time for what happens next.

As you glimpse over your 8'o clock, you pick up something that isn't a missile, and four things that are. The Wyvern is bearing down on you from a not entirely significant height advantage, and has opened up with a barrage of All-Aspects against your squadmates. Yamashiro adds to this barrage with an ARTEMIS-assisted MMS-20 salvo before expending a flare and attempting to shake the missile headed her way.

In her attempt to avoid the virtual missile, she pushes the Sulla past its flight envelope for too long and enters a very real stall. The missile still hits her, for good measure.

I can't quite get outside without getting a guard's attention. He inquires to what I am doing, and reports it in. A man reports over the guard's radio that someone is going to find wire cutters. I head outside the wire cautiously.

The jungle is huge, the canopies are far above, and it's making a fair racket. I hug the razor wire, treading on ground presumably treated with industrial defoliants. The dog is a hundred or so meters away.

The first dog sees me and tenses. It states at me. It's almost the size of the North Aesthian Ovcharkas that I used to have when I lived at home. I approach it carefully, and it lets me close to the dog caught in the wire. The dog caught in the wire whimpers loudly. It's somehow managed to get its torso caught in the wire.

I begin working sensitively with my hands, trying not to get cut. It's futile though, and I get knicked here and there, especially as the dog tries to kick its way out.

"Oh stuff."
I locate the now-stalling Yamashiro and start spraying her with my twin gatling guns.
