Bell deploys her last salvo of flares and tries to evade.

I continue to work the second dog out of the the wire. I manage to get the dog's head free, but receive a cut on my hand for my efforts. The guard better hurry up with the bolt cutters.

Being outside the wire is frightening.

"Whoa, [son of a bitch!]"

I drop 4 flares, and begin to perform a combination between climbing, and banking, while also trying to keep it so I'm at minimal G-Force.

i just know nozoner's going to make his post like 5 seconds after this but whatever here we go i've been sitting on this post since 5:30
"loving stuff!" I pop 2 packets of flares and perform evasive maneuvers.

Your pair of flares trick the incoming missiles, leaving you safe for the time being.

One use of flares is simply not enough to evade the onslaught of munitions, and your HUD informs you that your plane has been destroyed, providing you with a combat log of what hit you where. According to said log, one MMS went for the flares, two of them breached the fusion engine's housing, the other two collided with your right wing, and the All-Aspect flew straight up the tailpipe. At the end of said damage report, the program gives an 82% estimated chance of survival had you attempted to eject if this were a real combat situation. Fortunately for your squadmates, the Kintharian AR simulation does not account for the explosion that usually accompanies a Sabre being disabled, or your teammates could have been in some serious trouble.

You fill the skies with enough flares to be a serious fire hazard if any of them lasted long enough to reach the jungle below. So many, in fact, that it doesn't matter what you did to maneuver, the missiles were too gobsmacked by the artificial sun you just created to give chase.

"Oh stuff."
I locate the now-stalling Yamashiro and start spraying her with my twin gatling guns.
Right. The target out at missile range. Who is currently helpless and stalling, unable to perform evasive maneuvers. You fire on them with your guns, instead of with your heatseekers, all-aspects, or MMS-12.
The result is predictably disappointing.

Yamashiro spends her turn un-loving her current situation, and comes out of her stall significantly below most of Mjolnir. The rest of Raiden has completed their turns and are once again charging into missile range head-on. Xiaomei swings the Wyvern around and starts gaining distance away from your formation to set up for another attack run.

You hear footsteps approaching rather rapidly, but it doesn't sound like the guard unless he's slipped into a pair of 6 ton steel boots.

"I guess better take more countermeasures on the next combat sortie if I don't want shrapnel in my back again."

Bell disengages the simulator and goes back to loiter around the starting point.

The first dog starts going batstuff crazy. I glance at it. It's low, barking and roaring aggressively. Slobber flies from its mouth. It's ears tuck low.

I tear at the second dogs legs, and pull them free of the concertina wire. I give myself a couple bleeding cuts, and a nasty bleeding cut on my forearm from working without any concern for being cut up. The wound sears and drips.

The second dog yanks its leg free from the last of the wire and barks maddeningly.

I consider throwing myself between the concertina wire and chain link fence to avoid being mauled. Perhaps whatever animal will get caught in the wire.

I try to get in range of Yamato and get on her tail.

The stomping gets nearer, and the source of the noise is revealed to be the Kintharians taking a captured Deltan walker on a test run, along a road parallel to the runway.

I try to get in range of Yamato and get on her tail.
she is flying directly at you.

didn't account for my two used flares

"Dammit!" Hell in a handbasket is the one expression that comes to Richard's mind as he sees the only other air superiority fighter in the squadron get hit. The ominous MAW tone, portending the doom of the Sabre, compels him to evade. He pulls up into a slight ascent, goes inverted, pitches into a split-S facing the missiles, cuts the power and dispenses his last flare packet.

Hey wait hold on a second shouldn't the AAM have negated operator's supermaneuverability roll or is that an enemy only thing?

The AAM ignored the supermaneuverable roll, it was a hit when he failed roll 1. But the MMS doesn't negate SM, so he got to roll again to at least hopefully dodge the mini-missile salvo, but unfortunately that roll failed too.

"forget I'm dumb."
I fire off an AAM and the MMS at Yamashiro, then break off and find another target.

Jaakko mutters some slurs under his breath. His heart still pounds, and the dogs are still barking.

"[Oh stuff!]"
I immediately flip over and pull the yoke towards me, and then flip back over once I've finished that maneuver to get a sense of Yamato's position now that I've moved.

sorry about the delay, wasn't feeling well last night

Still flying head on towards your squadron, now soundly in missile range. She punctuates this by firing a Heatseeker at you.

"forget I'm dumb."

Unfortunately, by the time you open fire on her, you have missed your window of opportunity. The rest of her squadron has caught up to her location, and Musashi fires off the guidance scrambler, dispelling your outgoing munitions. The bright side is that they are all now in missile range and down to one GSCRAM use, so if SOMEONE *cough cough* were to fire off an artemis-assisted barrage of 4 heatseekers next turn, that might bait them into using their last charge. Just a thought though. You pick up a missile from Raiden-6, and Yamashiro fires one off at Gus.

Also, Cypher has brought up something worth discussing with all of you: how should "advanced" maneuvers work? The way I'm currently doing it is, whenever you use flares it's tied to a simple evasive maneuver, something like this, for example. But what if you want to try something more complicated? Or if you want to give up the maneuver to stay on a target, and pray that the countermeasure alone will handle it? Suggestions would be much appreciated.
