im really not sure how i feel about this cloaking device

with the fenrir's EV at 91 i think its fine
Wyvern: 100 EV, supermaneuverable, and a missile that does splash damage.
Nosferatu: A pair of nigh-instakill doom cannons, supermaneuverable, and great stats across the board.
Fury: The fastest thing in the world, and has a weapon that never gives up chasing its target.
Talon: The second fastest thing in the world and unlike the fury it can maneuver in a dogfight, not to mention it comes with a fusion engine for even more speed and maneuverability.
Shikra: Built like a battleship, with the armaments to match.
Sulla and Morgenstern: Can energy/missile boat like nothing else.
Fenrir: Has 91 EV and a Heat Ray which I don't even know how to implement and will probably end up removing or replacing. No supermaneuverable.

I think the Fenrir needs a little more than just 91 EV. 91 is still really good, but there's no second die to choose from when you evade. Even Xiaomei, flying at 112 and with supermaneuverable, nearly got stuffcanned by the end of your duel. I could just give it Supermaneuverable, but that seems like it would just be uninspired and make it a sorta slower, sorta clumsier, sorta tougher Wyvern, and I'd like it to be more than just that.

scrambler negation would probably be very broken and still not be enough as a fenrir buff

i'm not a fan of giving it any ESAM perks either.

What about giving it a set of special support modules allowing it to re-specialize as a strike fighter or interceptor?

i would remove the heat ray, yeah.

give it specialization: missile. AAMs on it would cost only 3 points, and HSMs would only cost 2 points if you round down

those combined would make the fenrir damn formidable

What about giving it a set of special support modules allowing it to re-specialize as a strike fighter or interceptor?
but then i might as well make it an omni

but then i might as well make it an omni

good point

the super stealth really makes the fenrir unique, i don't think being able to spam all-aspects would be something that would set fenrir apart

but what happens once you use your stealth

then you're just like, a mediocre T5 that turns good.

Plus, the Morgenstern is already the resident missile spammer, I don't want another plane encroaching on another's domain.
Wyvern: Exceptionally maneuverable
Sulla: Exceptionally energy weapon focused
Fury: Exceptionally fast
Talon: Wyvern and Fury's bastard babby
Morgenstern: Exceptionally missile focused
Shikra: Exceptionally invincible
Nosferatu: Exceptionally solid
Fenrir: Exceptionally stealthy

But stealth can't be "used up", you just can't keep it on constantly for the entire fight. Being invisible for even a few turns means you can basically get on someone's tail for free, because they can't take evasive action if they don't know someone's there. Or you could pop the cloak as you feint an evasive maneuver, so a pursuing opponent follows where they think you went when you really didn't go that way at all. Or actually successfully pull off what Raiden tried, and show up behind the enemies while the rest of your team hits them from the front. If they're occupied and focused on your allies, then they won't notice a shimmer flying by several miles out, even if it is a little warm. Hell, the fact that you have a plane that turns invisible would at least have a psychological effect on the common rank and file airman that makes up most of the opponents, they can't fight as effectively if they're distracted/paranoid.

It's more fair to compare the super stealth to the LAMS, it does cool down at a slow rate, but it doesn't keep going on forever because it would be ridiculous to be able to intercept a single missile every turn without any work. The difference is that LAMS is much more difficult to fit on your loadout, while Fenrir's stealth is quite easy to strap onto the loadout if you're going to take a Heat sink on it.

here's a quick loadout i cooked up:

there are plenty of options you can put in place of the flak cannon. You could probably get rid of one of the heat sinks and choose to go with additional countermeasures (if you aren't utilizing an energy weapon).

one thing I have found silly is that the reverse-engineered weapons have a much lower availability than the 'real' counterparts. We haven't seen an available EMP lance yet, but that might change.

i suppose that makes sense. still... i dont really think that having IR missiles track you better after you use it is necessarily good

i might remove "tracks better" and replace with "tracks at all"

"[Good to meet you, Musashi. My name's Akemi Yui.]"

She keeps her warming smile on, extending a hand.
: [Likewise, Akemi. Musashi Ilona.] But all of you can call me Ilona.

Her Kintharian accent doesn't seem to seep into her foreign name very much, surprisingly.

"[I noticed that Nagato wasn't flying with you guys today. What happened?]"

: Oh. She... uh. Ate a spider. And got paralyzed.

Richard smiles, stands up and shakes her hand.

"Richard Geary, call sign Sabre. Glad to finally meet you." Baocun Xiaomei. That's not exactly Kintharian, is it? Richard studies her appearance. He can't help but notice that a few of her hairs are already starting to gray.

"You don't have to be so modest, by the way. I doubt any other pilot would've been able to pull off what you did had they been in your seat." It was almost inhuman, he nearly added.

She gives a brief tssk before responding.
: And I doubt any other pilot would've been able to pull off what you did in the Sabre. Kept up with the Wyvern better than I would've expected, without the fusion engine no less. Gave me a solid run for my money. If it wasn't a simulation, if you hadn't taken me down, R&D sure would've.

Xiaomei stares out at the treeline, letting the cigarette smoulder in her mouth.

I would like to point out that Chinese-like names can be assumed to also be Kintharian because Kintharia is supposed to be a bit of both.

one thing I have found silly is that the reverse-engineered weapons have a much lower availability than the 'real' counterparts. We haven't seen an available EMP lance yet, but that might change.

Oh yeah that. They're kind of a scrapped idea, actually. Just haven't gotten around to removing them in the eight months this thread has been around.

bacon's real name confirmed to be Ayla Mao

Jaakko whistles to get the dogs' attention. Jalko gets up, and Talko roosters his head and seems to bite his lip.

"I figure they need to be washed, and fed, but I don't know what they eat,"

Talko updated.

Name: Talko
Nickname: Tal/Talc
Age: 2 - 3
Piloting Preference: BITCHES
Backstory: Found in the wire.
Description: Big, lanky, janky teddy bear. Believes he is a puppy. Talko is the size of an Irish wolfhound, with the proportions of a maned wolf, and the mane of a maned wolf. Colored like a Leonberger, except with black feet (a la maned wolf), has a black mask on his face. Eyes may appear to be an unnerving yellow from a distance. Deltan Bloodhound. His snout is long and his mouth unhinges like that of a thylacine's. Bred to crush necks and tear out throats. Has a tail, fast and maneuverable. Can jump high and bound. Not as rugged as Jalko. Big ears that move independently. Weighs about 150.

Also, I ran our projected casualty rate increase. Here they are.

i find it really weird people just brush off squadmates deaths as if nothing happened
