The Sabre descends to treetop level. Richard pushes forward on the power and accelerates.

I roll over and rendezvous with Sabre, flying as low as is safely possible, and punch the burners, hearing the roar of Geary's fusion engines from here, even over my own burners.

The roar of the fusion engines wanes as Richard pulls back on the quadrant. He holds the Sabre's airspeed steady, just shy of the sound barrier.

"Alright, here's what I have planned. Once we get close, I'm gonna circle around clockwise and fire my PPC at the radar facility from the left. I want you two to circle counterclockwise and attack from the opposite direction. Wait for the beam; that'll be the signal to fire. With any luck, the PPC will interfere with communications and buy us some time to react in case something goes wrong."

Richard feels a knot form in his stomach.

"... If you guys have any suggestions, I'm willing to hear them," he adds.

You probably could have increased your chances of success by sending an escort with the Mercanan strike package and sticking in one group to attack Site One, since only two of the sites have to be taken out for the operation.
