Faw clicks in over the radio.
"How active has this area been since the last mission? Is this a heavily contested neighborhood or has it been relatively peaceful?"
: Most of the fighting is concentrated elsewhere, that area is all but abandoned.
: We're almost to her ejection seat, just looking for a place to set down.

Ellie goes to look at the Fenrir in the hangar since she hasn't had the opportunity to see it up close on the ground before.

"Affirmative. I'll gain altitude and provide overwatch."

Faw kicks up the throttle and gently pulls down on the stick, pointing his nose upward into a shallow climb. In comparison to the F35K the Corsair was a giant, and Faw could feel the weight of the jet during turns. Whatever, he'd just have to get used to it. Faw takes a look at his radar before scanning the horizon for any disturbances, either on the ground, or in the air.

Jaakko sits in the rear of the Hind. His carbine rests between his legs, pointed upwards at the ceiling. His hands grasp it, positioned almost as if he were praying. His head rests against the wall of the cabin. He is trying his best to control his anxiousness.

He looks to his carrier. There are two patches. One is labeled O POS, the other labeled NKDA. His eyes flick to his gun. He removes a magazine from his carrier and eases it into the mag well, but hesitates to charge the weapon.

The ground is not far below them, and the Hip is circling for a place to land. He hopes and prays in earnest that Matsumoto is down there and alive.

Some attack helicopters appear near the edge of radar range, heading for the thick of the fighting along a path that will not go anywhere near the rescue effort.

The Hip sets down in a clearing not far from the transponder, and the rear door falls open.
: Alright, let's go.

The other occupants exit the helicopter, with the exception of the door gunners.

Faw spots the squadron of attack choppers. He clicks in over the radio.

"I'm seeing a squad of 4 Tiger helos moving north-east of our position. They're not heading towards our position, but I'd still be wary of them. Other than that, I don't see anything in the air."

Jaakko charges his carbine and follows the squad out. The anxiety in his chest deadens. His feet are on the ground, there is no where else for him to go.

He studies the city buildings.

"Just don't mess around with them. Let's get this over with as fast as we can."

: Understood, keep us posted.

Jaakko's PER 36
Roll: 66 - failure

You notice nothing out of the ordinary. Some buildings in the distant skyline show the scars of battle, but for the most part your immediate surroundings just look abandoned, seemingly untouched by the fighting.

Gus exits the helicopter behind Jaakko, walking down the ramp slowly onto the familiar ground of Svirask. In front of him stretches the expanse of former suburban NAUC. At this point, it's all too familiar.

Dropping the safety lever and charging the bolt, Gus speaks up over comms while looking around for abnormalities.

"Requesting FLIR scan."

Gus's PER 36
Roll: 14 - success

Gus notices an indistinct pair of scorch marks on the ground in the same clearing as the chopper set down. Based on the spacing of them and the lack of any other signs of battle damage to the area, he gets a hunch that they didn't come from weapon impacts, but from an Imperial VTOL having landed here recently.

Jaakko keeps scanning the area, walking and keeping his minimum distance from the man ahead of him.

"Hey, Rask."

Gus stops and raises his carbine to his left shoulder, motioning with the barrel of the gun towards the scorches.

"What do you make of that?"

He looks around at the area again.

"This place is near pristine. That's not battle damage."
