"But I guess we're going to have to sink this thing before the fleet can do anything, retreat or not."

Lorens jumps as the laser shot destroys his ablative shielding. Panicking, he turns away from the submarine and swerves about in guns defense.

"Good to know we can track it, if it goes under again to attack another vessel we can try to set up on it."

Walter reviews his equipment and what the rest of the squadron has as he closes more distance.

: No, I would rather not risk one of my own vessels engaging an unknown quantity like that, especially if it would leave the Tordenskjold the slightest bit less defended. Our strike planes are already in the area, they will deal with the threat.
: And what if it stays under until your planes have to leave to refuel?
: That will be the Navy's problem, Admiral.

Ellie checks her engines, one of them is damaged and the other one is about to give out. "Crash, permission to disengage, my plane probably won't make it back if it gets damaged here, probably leaking fuel, too."

The Shiva recoils as bits of its paneling are explosively vaporized by pulse laser fire. Lorens pulls himself together and turns back to face the Octarius.

"Snowman, taking another shot!" This time, he aims for the middle rotary pulse laser assembly. Another gauss slug is loaded in the chamber and fired, made evident by a thunderous boom and a bright flash.

Jaakko remembered seeing Ellie's starboard engine flaring with unusual yellow flame. Not burning, but indicative of engine damage. On a clear day the engine would probably be trailing smoke noticeably more than usual.

"Granted," he replies.

"Tordenskjold, Crash. This thing's forgeted six ways to Sunday. Am I clear to come aboard?"
