SpaceX in 2006 would be in dire need of investors. Aramco just offered to invest in the price of 65% of their stocks; that's going to be a solid $500 million + the offer of an entire space center to work from. Tesla is offered loving BATTERY IMPROVEMENTS and funds to BUILD A FACTORY.

We both exchange knowledge and both benefit from it. Why would he deny that? Even better, why wouldn't he negotiate? What is your problem there?
