Ok

Banjo kazooie nuts and bolts

That attempted to please everyone

Nuts and bolts was rushed, there was nothing they could do about it. Rare was aware of time constraints, so it came down to two options.

1. Push the game out and hope that it did well.
2. Push deadlines back but lose demographic in the process.

It made a lot of sales, it may have not been the best banjo-kazooie game to date, but hey, it made somewhat of a profit.

But hey, you should wait and see if our game will get popular before you jump into conclusions like it will never be a success in any shape or form just because the cars are not normal sized, also, if it will be possible there will be modding for tracks and a track editor, and that is a powerful thing.

sure the small cars are original, but you should take a survey on who wants to see the small cars or normal cars. not just go on your own predictions on who might or might not like it.
it'd be the better thing to do

So, where is your fanbase that was so dedicated to see a new game from your company, that they couldn't help but buy your new game? Oh, wait. Your starting fresh aren't you?

You're comparing my previous statement like you already have millions of loyal fans ready to buy your game finished or not. That's not the case, Rare has fans, Rare had a checkbox design that sucked but hey, they made profit. You have a forum of maybe 150 potential buyers. Don't try to act like you already have a checkbox because remember, you're still new. You haven't had previous sales in the past for anything relating to what your doing now. Do you have an indiedb page? Are people following? Where is your future consumer base? You can't just state "We'll wait, then it will get popular" because you don't know if it will get popular with your "Different" formula or not.

No I never meant it like that, I said that you and I should wait and see if it will get attention and maybe a fanbase before we jump into conclusions.

filipe needs a marketing team

i will join the marketing team

Not sure why alkatjo is being so aggressive. My expectations for this game were surpassed long ago.

filipe needs a marketing team
And that's exactly how filipe should get started. He should market it now, provide a demo on all sources he can. Respond to criticism in a professional tone.
If people like it, hurray. If they don't, changes will be needed.

Im not trying to be aggressive, if I come off as aggressive then that's only because I don't want people to make the same mistakes that other people have.
And by that, I just... I need a clearer example.

Look up Terahypt. That had promise to be a solid indie. Research it, watch videos of it. Do whatever you can to understand it, then realize that it has no true goal or market at all. People want the game to go into a different direction, but the developer Is stubborn and is missing a chance to seriously sell a good game.
Edit: Not Terahypt, Zerahypt.

one thing i can actually agree with is that this is precisely the stage where you need to listen to criticism; large design changes later in development are generally frowned upon

This is for the best for the game, or else we would be seeing pretty unfitting car models in the game, it's something similar to high-poly models in Blockland, does that look good? No. Does it fit in the game style? No.
none of that matters. it doesn't matter in blockland either. if you don't like something, don't download it, but not liking something isn't a reason to disallow it from existing at all

christ what's with the sudden wave of everyone disagreeing
dunno about you people but I actually like where the game's going

i liked it before chibi

Well, ignoring everything going on above, here's a quick GUI update. Not final, but a start (click for a bigger image). Also, pausing now works (although this will end up being removed when/if the game goes multiplayer, as paused multiplayer would not be good).
