home defense you get a short pump action shotgun. nothing else.

I can tell you right now that ".45 acp" revolver is probably .45 long colt, not ACP. From what your saying is you want a a gun for home defense, just get a mossberg 590 or if you want you can get a mossberg 590A1 which has a bayonet lug, Just in case....

Good suggestion, and no, it's .45 ACP. I know the difference and the revolver was made for ACP and not long colt. It's a Tracker Model 455, second-hand purchase.

PSST, RABBOT Use this instead.

something Op can actually fire in a tight situation.

i don't think he could buy them if they weren't legal to own

for home defense a rifle wouldn't be as practical (hard to conceal and keep around you, imo) so a pistol would be better
you could even get a pretty cheap .22 browning buckmark (my first gun, mostly for shooting at ranges and such) that would work fine for home defense
might be a .22 but it'll still defend you against a home intruder

Would if I could, man.
Gun laws are fairly lax. You can't buy a handgun without a permit, but you can buy all the damn rifles ya want.

The Browning Auto 5 would be my choice for home protection

nothing scares away a trespasser more than the good ol' boomstick.
